WNYPCRepair 1,875 #2 Posted December 26, 2015 What are you using to edit that text? Is that Google Chrome? Anyway, what you are missing is the delete option in the contextual menu for that program. Cut will also work, or just select it and hit backspace or delete
rmaynard 14,986 #3 Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) I don't have a delete either when using Chrome. I use "cut". I do have it in Firefox. Edited December 26, 2015 by rmaynard
Digger 66 3,477 #4 Posted December 26, 2015 (edited) Yes , it's Chrome . You're right cut does work but "delete" was there . What the heck happened to it & how do I get it back there ? Now , knowing what that window is called , a search turned up plenty of other unhappy Chrome users https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/j-gTPZC0W6o Edited December 26, 2015 by Digger
nylyon-(Admin) 7,136 #5 Posted December 26, 2015 Wouldn't you use the delete button on the keyboard? Why would you need a delete link in the menu?
953 nut 52,655 #6 Posted December 26, 2015 I have found that if I highlight any text then hit the space bar the highlighted material goes away. This may not be the right way, but it works.
Digger 66 3,477 #7 Posted December 26, 2015 Yes but when you use "cut" whatever you cut appears in a space you would "copy" to . So if you "copied" something beforehand , & you "cut" out what you want to replace & then hit ctrl+v it pastes in what you "cut" out in the first place rather than what you "copied" Very frustrating . True, you will have to use the delete or backspace key, as Google changed the contextual menus in Chrome.

stevasaurus 22,295 #11 Posted December 27, 2015 I've been hearing very bad things about Google Chrome...like loaded with viruses. I am afraid to use Google Maps anymore.

I'm not sure if the issue is Chrome itself is insecure, or if it is all the extensions that are insecure, but every infected PC I see has Chrome on it, and 90% of those have infected files in the Chrome folder. I don't trust it. And I don't recommend extensions or add ons for any browser, including toolbars. Most toolbars are malware themselves, Ask toolbar in particular is nasty. Google Earth is a different story, I don't trust it either Google maps is different, you are safe there. Edited December 27, 2015 by WNYPCRepair
