Ed Kennell 35,798 #28 Posted February 8, 2016 They are both on the nest this morning. Mamma's cleaning the nest while Pappa's having breakfast.
rmaynard 14,898 #29 Posted February 8, 2016 How can you tell which one is Mamma? I she the largest one? Also, it seems they are both irritated with one stick that they just can't move. It's fun to watch the level of frustration involved in getting the nest just as they want it.

From what I've read the female is the largest. I agree they just can't seem to arrange that stick the way they want it. They have been picking at that one stick for several days. I just watched the Female ( I think ) eat a squirrel. Wonder if It's that pesky squirrel that has been fooling around in their nest.
rmaynard 14,898 #31 Posted February 8, 2016 I told my wife this morning that a squirrel poked his head into the nest, then backed out quickly just as both eagles flew in. I think he may have become breakfast.

rmaynard 14,898 #48 Posted February 12, 2016 They made short work of their breakfast. Tried a little more housekeeping, and both flew off at 6:55.
JC 1965 1,528 #49 Posted February 12, 2016 I have noticed they spend more time at the nest lately. I think that might be a sign that an egg is coming before too long.
rmaynard 14,898 #50 Posted February 12, 2016 I hope they get rid of the snow before dropping the egg(s). With the temperatures hovering 10 degrees this morning, not much chance of that.
