The real reason is that the lights and snow effect take an inappropriate amount of CPU power from your computer and leaving it on all the time will eventually cause people to not be too happy.

 

I am planning on leaving them up a few days prior to Christmas though, so fear not, everyone will get their fill and I'll be happy when they are gone

Once we all get our on-line shopping done we won't have a need for the computer except smashing lights and grabbing snow flakes anyway!
