JackC 617 #1 Posted December 7, 2015 Does anyone know the correct group size for a 1978 D-200 top post battery? The plastic battery tray under the batter is about 9" by 6.75". The height would be about 7.75" to use the battery hold down bracket. Possibly the Group 26 or 26R? TIA Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
JackC 617 #2 Posted January 3, 2016 Group size 26 fits. A 1/2 to 3/4 inch taller battery would also work. I used 2 extra over sized nuts on each side as spacers. Front to back was a perfect fit with the battery hold down bracket and the battery could have been about 1/4 wider side to side. Bosch had a group size 26 with a 3 year free replacement warranty. Pep Boys carries Bosch but no longer carries that size. I went with the AutoCraft Silver from AdvanceAuto with a 2 year free replacement warranty. With their online 20% discount it came to $99.84 including tax. At 525 CCA it should be plenty of battery for the beast.
