wrightorchid 261 #1 Posted December 2, 2015 I had to change a tire last week, so I had the rear up, and was looking around the brake band. I currently have no brakes, so thought it might be the band adjustment. There is some oil leaking from the tranny, along the axles, but notices that the part the brake band clamps to does move. Is this correct? I have heard some things about a parking brake pawl in the tranny breaking. I'm not sure if related. I really need to rebuild it, but don't have the time, or the backup to use in the mean time.
Racinbob 10,392 #2 Posted December 2, 2015 The pawl being referred to in in the hydros, not the 8 speeds. As you depress the brake pedal the band will squeeze the drum. It probably is the adjustment if your padding looks ok. It sounds like it's time to put new seals on the axles. I would do all the shafts and check for bearing wear. Most likely you'll just need seals.
