mrc 954 #28 Posted November 23, 2015 hello men, first, thank you to all who took the time to reply. i really appreciate it. i was almost ready to fire up the torch and bend the spindle to my liking. i really hate to hack up things though. finally, i scrounged thru my parts stash and found yet another set of spindles. i swapped out the right side spindle and BINGO! now it was the same angle as the left side. the level confirmed this. the wheel looked "right" to my eye. i breathed a big sigh of relief. best regards mike in mass. 4 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

mrc 954 #30 Posted November 28, 2015 save old iron: yes, that was my conclusion. odd thing is the spindles did not look crooked to the naked eye. first time i've run across this problem. i agree with some of you that on a garden tractor this was not a huge concern. vs. an indy car for example. still, it bothered me when i looked at it. mike in mass. buckrancher 2,694 #31 Posted November 28, 2015 more than likely the spindles were not made correctly from the factory it's not unreasonable for parts to go thru the manufacturing process that are slightly out of tolerance but are still usable you could have a entire run of parts like a right front spindle that were over bent a couple of degree's but instead of rejecting the parts wheel-horse decided they could use them Brian 4 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

JP 141 79 #33 Posted November 30, 2015 Wondering myself, based on the pics....Is the front axle mounting pivot hole or bushing bad ? Maybe the frame bent just a bit ? cleat 7,259 #34 Posted December 1, 2015 I have made up new front axle pivot pins for all of my 520's as whey were worn. Wheels did not sit crooked for this problem however, just made play in the steering as the axle moved instead of turning the wheels on very slight steering wheel input.
