DougC 2,643 #2 Posted November 4, 2015 Looks like somethin you'd see here in south central Iowa............... maybe in one of my neighbors garage.................Looks like it's working good once you get used to steering it.............
82Caddy 851 #3 Posted November 4, 2015 That's the second one I've seen on backwards. The other was on a D160 in the neighboring town...
953 nut 60,019 #4 Posted November 4, 2015 That is quite the logging rig, I don't think I would want to spend too much time in the Hot Seat over the engine; gives a whole new meaning to nut roaster.
Pullstart 66,763 #5 Posted November 4, 2015 Yeah, that boat seat is something else. Imagine the wheelies that thing could do!
CasualObserver 3,411 #6 Posted November 4, 2015 That's the second one I've seen on backwards. The other was on a D160 in the neighboring town... I know of that one (the D-160). Came from Racine, MN. The old guy who did it said it was much better balanced that way.
DougC 2,643 #7 Posted November 4, 2015 The 3rd picture shows the hitch ball he installed so he can pull the trailer he made out of the rear half of his ex-wifes rusty 1968 Ford 1/2 ton pickup truck with the bullet holes in the side................

The old guy who did it said it was much better balanced that way. Yep, it's in Dexter now. The guy wants 3200$ for it. Guess he bought out the Racine small engine repair shop that had a bunch of old WH/garden tractor stuff. Has lots of good stuff, just too rich for my blood... WHX?? 51,756 #10 Posted November 4, 2015 Really ...how bizarre...that ain't exactly a tooth pick it's haulin either ... if it works what the heck. Would be awesome for makin firewood.Whats the thing on the steering wheel for ...some kind of suicide knob???
cheesegrader 433 #11 Posted November 4, 2015 That is a classic example of the "before" picture of a catastrophic failure. The loader is overloaded. He is using the dual rears to try to handle the overload.Looks like a front wheelie waiting to happen. If he adds enough weight to prevent the wheelie, he is going to crack the frame immediately in front of the subframe attachment.I would not buy that thing at any price.Bad idea, poorly executed.
roadapples 6,983 #12 Posted November 5, 2015 I had given some thought to a clam shell bucket, but I`d prefer it on the other end. And I agree this is just plain abuse.
Ed Kennell 41,997 #13 Posted November 5, 2015 I like it ! Solves the hard steering problem caused by front end loaders.
roadapples 6,983 #14 Posted November 5, 2015 I like it ! Solves the hard steering problem caused by front end loaders. I put gear reduction steering on mine a couple years ago. I recently added trailer hubs and wheels. The tires are 6ply rating. 800 lbs. each at 70psi. Yup 70, steers good even loaded.
boovuc 1,090 #15 Posted November 5, 2015 Well at least the rear-facing seat folds down so you can see driving forward. Or is that reverse? Oh and this thing will snap. Might be next week. Might be next year but hauling logs like that.............oh yea! It's going to snap somewhere!
Forest Road 594 #16 Posted November 5, 2015 I'm half tempted to try it on my Xi. Biggest problem I have is traction once the bucket is loaded. This just puts the weight where it'll be most effective. Although I'm not sold on the clamshell. Think I'll stick to dragging my logs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
WNYPCRepair 1,923 #17 Posted November 5, 2015 I don't get why he didn't just put the grapple on the front, unless it was for traction, like Forest Road said. The other thing I don't get is why the two plow blades? He fabricated the framework around the blades, why not just fabricate a real grapple?
Brian01 481 #18 Posted November 5, 2015 Wouldn't know which seat to sit in... Wouldn't know which seat to sit in...
DennisThornton 4,771 #19 Posted November 5, 2015 Well, I've never! Can't say I want to either...Creativity, just think I might have done something different somehow...But thanks for the pictures!
WHX?? 51,756 #20 Posted November 5, 2015 Think I'll stick to dragging my logs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Thats what I do Forest, problem is here when I drag they pick up sand & dirt and that can get rough with the chain & lumber saws. Still for that kinda coin one can find a bigger tractor with a FEL and use chains & slings. That is a classic example of the "before" picture of a catastrophic failure. Surely overloading the axle. Note the left rear outboard tire sagging, either overloaded, uninflated or both!
Pullstart 66,763 #21 Posted November 5, 2015 so would it be called a BEL, or REL, or something else real clever? Maybe if the price is right on CL it's worth parts to build a good loader equipped tractor?
