ok, i have been thinking long and hard about the best way to put this Karl asked me to remove Eldon and TT from admin status since these actions can only be preformed from my account. now with out question i did so and it led to a lot of hurt feelings and swollen heads (mine mostly). While it was never intended to because they are both great guys and contributed tons to this site. i should have seen this coming as everyone was kind of left in the dark. as to TT having a forum that is fine and as he pointed out to me by Terry duramaxdavid has a link to the forum he created in his signature now if i were making money off the forum that may be an issue but it is a place for everyone and i hope it can stay this way

I think you are right. I registered last night thinking great, another resource for Wheel Horse and didn't hear anything. So I emailed him directly asking if he recieved my registration. Here is the reply:

I appreciate your interest in our forum, but for the time being, we aren't accepting new members. I was actually in the process of changing the settings when a few guys registered, but didn't get it done in time.

If anything would happen to change, I'll be sure to contact you. In the meantime, feel free to browse.

TT's site was not intended to create havoc here in any way. It is for that reason that links to it have been removed by members of it time and again here at Redsquare.

This single thread, along with private conversations here have created a flood of persons attempting to join the group. That was not what TT wanted, for obvious reasons. There are those who believe the creation of his site was for no other reason than to draw some members away from Redsquare. Some who doubt that still think the site is a place for people to speak negatively about Redsquare, even though such a thing is strictly prohibited there.

As such, it makes sense to restrict membership on his site. It isn't intended to make any of you think that it's a "members only" club. It has been restricted so all of the talk about recruiting members here to join there , or the "Redsquare bashing" BS will stop.

Whether anyone believes it or not, and I do mean ANYONE- TT and Eldon wish this whole "scandal" would die a quick death and end all the rumor and speculation. This horse died long ago, and people are still beating it.

To be clear on one thing- TT has been restricted from posting on Redsquare since being removed from admin status. Short of simply sending e-mails back and forth, he had little choice but to create a place where he could talk to some of the many friends he has made through this hobby. Any other speculation as to why it is there is just a shot in the dark by someone who doesn't have a clue.

This whole mess has taken on a life of it's own and grown into something none of those involved ever wanted. Regardless of what happened, it should have long since been forgotten.

I sincerely hope this subject will find peace at some point in human history.

OK guys, I'm trying my best to stay neutral through all of this. As a mod, I could have just as easily deleted Jeff's quote (or the post) and hoped the issue went away. I would rather approach it head on.

Let me try to explain. Yes, TT has a forum. It has many of the same members that are here at RS. There are plenty of people here that are friendly and helpful. If you're happy, then why would you need to join another forum that contains the same people?

I hope that makes sense, without stepping on anyone's toes.

I told Chris i was done with this subject last night via PM but I wanted to explain why i commented in this thread.

Here is what make me upset about the whole thing. I enjoy talking about wheel horses and their owners. Redsquare is the only place I know to do it. I dont mess with Yahoo groups as i cant stand the layout. To my knowledge there really isnt another forum dedicated to these tractors. I personally like having to different forums on one topic. They go different routes but generally talk about the same thing(ie. kydtr.com dieselplace.com duramaxforum.com). They are all different but still have the same subject matter. There are several people that belong to all three. The whole point of a forum(at least in my eyes) is to bring people who generally speaking would never meet together to discuss a certain topic. I didnt want to join his site to find out what happened or to bash redsquare. I wanted to join to have another group of guys to discuss wh and off the wall stuff.

By not allowing people to join your forum you have indeed created a members only type deal. is there a problem with that? No there isnt. Am i upset they didnt let me in? NO i am upset that I did not receive an email saying that your site is only accepting a certain amount of people. Just canceling a registration without notice seems to be an easy way out.

I have had people PM and email me for his site. I will not give it out. If you want it bad enough it is on google.

With all due respect David- and accepting the possibility that I was not clear to some who read my post, I don't think you understood what I said.

I said we have restricted membership as a result of the flood of new people joining, as a result of the rumors of why it was created in the first place, and all the rediculous speculations and statements on this thread.

In short-

If people say we're recruiting RS members to draw them away from here, and we are allowing the dozens of people in, then the people who say such things have justification for their BS. I.E.- "See, I told you they're just trying to take members from RS".

We don't want any more of these things said, so we have locked the site until this dead horse is buried.

In addition, the site was NEVER intended to compete in any way with Redsquare. Just as a moderator closes a thread that has gotten out of control, we have closed the site in an attempt to stop all of this silly babble.

The last 10 yrs. or so I've been a member in a number of forums. From PC geek stuff, gaming forums, antique Monte Carlo forums ...and now a Wheel Horse Forum.

I have to say...that in every one of those forums, this same conversation has taken place.

There will always be slight complications or conflicts of interest with certain people or power.

When this many people express their opinions, knowledge and know how,things are going to happen.

Nothing can be done about it, that's just the way it is. Imagine if we were all together everyday face to face. Believe me it would be a lot worse.

From what I see, having a forum with this many people, I'm surprised things don't get a little crazier than they do. :hide:

Come to the show Butch and you'll meet some of the friendliest people around. Some people come down and don't really mingle but are still friendly and I've never heard anyone put down another member because his 'Horse wasn't flawlessly restored. And this little tempest we're having here will blow over, they always do.

Well, guys, I really don't want to have to do this, but I'm closing this thread. Explanations have been given, people have vented a little - I'm afraid this thread, if we let it continued, would just add to more frustrations. I don't see anything more constructive coming from it. Like it's been hinted at, it's time to refocus back to just the tractors.

Just a couple of clarifications, TT wasn't barred from posting - he was placed on admin approval - similar to what most Yahoo groups do, i.e. posts have to be approved before it goes public. Or at least that's my take on it from Chris. And besides, it's a moot point now, from what Chris told me, things have been worked out and TT, if he wants, can post again here.

One final thing, and this is just my personal preference, please refrain from bashing anyone and any other site. I know it's frustrating when you only want to talk about Wheel Horse and all this political stuff hinders it. :hide:
