That is the lift mechanism for the mower deck, I believe. The first shot is looking up, and the second shot is down through the access panel.

Why do you need to adjust them? Are they lifting the deck too much, or are you trying to attach a snowplow. If it is the plow, the arms get pinned in the up position so that only the rockshaft rotates.

It is a nice design, probably brought on by the 60" mower deck's weight. It uses two arms for lifting as opposed to a single arm like the Classic Wheel Horse.

None of the manuals have anything about these . From the very first when I got my 518xi I put a snow blade on it . To me it seemed that it did not lift high enough ,maybe 3 inches at the most .Now I have a 523DXI with a snow blower on it and the same thing . I tried going into my shop which has a 3 inch lip and it hit . I would like to be able to raise the blade or the blower enough to clear .  I would go on except typing is not my thing . One finger . Thanks for all the input .  ED

Have you used clevis pins to "pin" the lift arms up? They are not used to lift the snowblower or plow.

The silver rods connect to the lift arms which are used only to lift the mower decks.. The lift system is hydraulic without any adjustment but are you using the correct hole in the Attachment Lift Plate? The plow does raise only about three inches using the slotted lift link. I don't have the solid lift link so I don't know if it lifts higher. I have a single stage snowthrower that must raise about five inches at the rear.

Try pumping the front tires up to 20 psi. The '98 manual says 12 psi but later years state 20 psi.

Yes The pins were in when I got the 523Dxi but I never knew about them before . I never had them in on the 518 with the plow. I'll see how it works out . Thanks for the heads up on the tire pressure .   ED

I'm not sure if it makes a difference in lifting but they bang around underneath without something attached. I have also found that the Kenda 16x7.50-8 is taller than the Titan 16x7.50-8 turf tires. I just bought a pair of Vredestein V-61 tires to go on my 523Dxi. They are only 16x6.50-8 but the specs show as tall as the turfs.

That's good information . I don't know what's on them now , I suppose they are original tires . Air pressure and tire size are good one's to look at  My hunt is not over and I just might try shortening those links to see what happens . Thanks John .  What's with the 5XI club ?    ED

My two 1998 tractors have the Titan Turfs and the 2000 has the Kenda Turfs. 5xi Club is just an Icon that Terry from REDOYOURHORSE created.

With regards to the plow, do you have the front stabilizer to keep it from moving sideways?

To Adjust the lift arms - start the engine and pull up on the lift lever until the lift arms are all the way up. Then tighten the nuts until the lift arms are tight against the footrest support. This is for all models - doesn't matter what attachment.

You are welcome Ed. Glad I could help. I looked around and could find nothing either. This should have been in the initial setup manual and in every attachment manual. Looks like Tech Pubs missed it and whoever reviewed the manuals did also.

Denny, you stirred my memory. I can remember reading about that procedure somewhere when I got my first 5xi - but can't find it as well!

Denny is right, but what allows it to adjust up or down is the out of round cylinder that is between the 2 arrows in his photo.

Rob, those are for adjusting the blade slope for transport on a mower deck.

Correct, which levels the deck also. So if one cam is off center and the other is on center, his lift arms will not come all the way up to the floor board supports.

Rob, his problem is with the snowplow not the mower deck. These are pinned to the chassis in one position when using the plow.

This is why I ran across Red Square . Where else would you receive so many responses to a question . ?   I have all the operation manuals and service records for the accessories that came with my 523DXI and nowhere could I find reference on hoe to adjust those rods on the lift . Thanks Guys .    ED     -- xearl   Remember Then
