snow Plow Tractor...Hydro lift vs Dial a Height.

Recommended Posts

what are your guys opinion about a plow tractor. i originally started building the 320 for a plow with a manual lift, however i have the option to take a stab at a few tractors with hydro lift. what is your preference on manual dial a height vs hydro. if a plow goes on the hydro, the 320 cant do much but tow. drive and look pretty. i thought about a 320 with a plow and saving the hydro lift one for a snowblower because they are heavy.

An advantage I could see with manual height is setting it to a specific level for grading dirt.

yeah that's what i'm thinking, maybe if i can score a blower to make use of the hydraulic lift.  ideally i think a plow on my 1772 Cub Super Diesel would be ideal because it has power lift and power angle on it, however the haban plows are hard to come by near me, wheel horse plow would be less $...

I have done it both ways. I have a gravel drive way and the hyd. lift is nice but very hard to control the plowing height. Half the drive way ends up in the yard. With the dial a height, much better control and less labor in the spring.

Too bad there is no way to preset a height with the hyd. lift.

anywhere a screwjack or a stop could be installed to help with that @cleat ?  I don't have experience, just talking before I think..

Reading this it finally dawned on me what the PO of my 523Dxi was doing with the snow blade. He had an extra bolt tightened in the lift link slot. That must have limited the travel.

The 5xi has two different lift links available as it has different lift linkage than a classic Wheel Horse. One is a link with a slot that can "float" and is cheaper than the solid link. The solid link is a double thickness link that "folds" over the two attachment points.

Thats a great tip squonk. Having pushed snow with my 520H on my long gravel drive and parking areas for the last 18 years any way you can limit the rocks in the yard is well worth the effort. 2 weeks in the spring raking rocks back into the drive way is....... :scared-ghostface:

I LOVE my C-85 with manual lift a blade!  The control is FAR beyond any hydraulic.  Now I have a 35hp NH with whatever attachment I need but I'll end up with a lot less driveway in my yard with the little WH.  The NH and a 74" 2 stage will put ANY snowfall into the woods but I still need something to do a fine tuned finish, and that is where the C-85 comes in!  I would NOT convert my C-85 to hydraulics for that usage!  My 2 cents minus a penny...
