C-Series14 15 #2 Posted November 24, 2008 All of them had the plastic gas tank. Shaped like a horseshoe! Wrapped around the seat and fender support. In 1978, the C-161 Twin had the FIBERGLASS hood and the PLASTIC fender. Some get that messed up. The fender was the first style of the plastic rear fender. In 1980, the fender's seat area was strengthened with ribbing and was thicker. I have one of each. The metal fender for 1978 is the "flat" style which was used in the years before... WH854 44 #3 Posted November 24, 2008 Thanks Mike for the info! I have one, a C-105 1981 vintage 10HP 01-10K802 I have it all apart cleaning it up a little bit. It was outside for along time not to bad of a shape,not really very much rust.
