Can mower deck 78292 replace a 78345

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone. Newby here. I have a 1997 314-8, 980 hours, bought it new. The deck has finally after several welding and reweldings reached the great lawn home for retired decks. I can pick up a 42" deck in great shape but it is a model 78292. I'm not sure what year it is but it has the same (it appears) frame for mounting as my model 78345. Just wondering if I can mount the 78292 on my 314.Thanks,Mark

You did start a topic! Sorry about that.

No that deck will not fit directly, it is for the 200 or XT series of tractors. (I mean you can MAKE it fit with some minor modifications and the deck hangers off your existing deck).

If you want an instant fit, you need one that will fit the C-series, the horizontal engine B series (all older), 300, 400, 500 series (or all attachmatic versions)

Well and looking closer at it the hangers do appear very similar, maybe Garry @gwest_ca has a little more insight. He is very quick with the part numbers and interchangeability.

Well, if all I would have to do is take off my hanger assembly thats not a problem. Mine is just rotted out around the spindles. I'm just running outr of good metal to weld to. It would be nice if there was a replacement patch with the indentations for the pulley to fit down into was available.

Part numbers for the deck shells are different but they come new with decals so a difference in one decal is all it takes to generate a different part number.
Any chance you can park the 2 decks side by side for a comparison?
Would not surprise me if they are the same.

78292 - 2003 to 2006
78345 - 1993 to 2014

Thanks, for the input Garry. No I can't see them side by side. The deck I'm looking at is 150 miles away. but everything in the pictures I've seen sure looks' close to what my 78345 is. At least by finding out the years the 78292 was made will help out on an interchange chart. All I've found is an interchange up to 2000. I'll look at the 2003-2006 and see if I can find anything out there.
