My daughter is stuck in Amsterdam

My daughter missed her flight home, now she is getting the run around from the travel agency and Aer Lingus. They just keep telling her they will get back to her within 24 hours.

Missed flights are a real problem these days.  The last time I missed one, they rescheduled me for 4 days later.  There just aren't any seats available.  I hope your daughter makes out better Brian.

She is comp-letely out of luck. She booked through some travel agency, and there are no changes or refunds. So she is considered a no show, so she is out of luck.

$1500 or so later, I bought her tickets home, she should be home tomorrow

I travel quite a bit for work and the Airlines can be very difficult to deal with. I have gotten off a plane a few times thinking I had a couple hour layover before my next flight to get home and when I get off the connecting flight is just straight up cancelled! And they have no "new" plan to get me home! Its all up to the traveler (me) to scramble to make new arrangements.
Seems to me if the airlines cancel a flight its not the travelers fault and they should have a plan to get the traveler to wherever they were going, but if the traveler is at fault well that's a different story.

I jumped out of the first 5 planes that I was ever in.  And since then, it has almost always been a bad experience of sorts.  This is just  a too bad thing for your daughter and you...Brian...what you did is what fathers do.  :handgestures-thumbupright:

The problem was using the travel agency. the airlines can't do anything to change the ticket if you bought it through a travel agency. And she took the cheapest option ($900 round trip) with no refunds or changes possible. And since she was late, she was considered a no show.

They taught us not to jump as long as the plane was still flying.  ;)

Yes, she made it back at 12:30, got back here about 1:00, back to her house at 1:30, and then she had to work at 1 PM today. I bet she sleeps good tonight, LOL
