C-195

Recommended Posts

Teddy da Bear

Well "ol' Man Winter" hit hard last night and this morning.

We have between 12 and 14" of snow here. And I still did not have

a blade or blower on a tractor.

Being desperate (as is usually my situation) I decided what was ever

closer to the door (not trapped by dead horses :hide: ) would

get the job of cleaning us out.

My first choice was the C-195 (closest to the door) and the big Bolenz

blade that you see in my avatar. Well.......I found out by just looking

at the rear end of the C-195 that the "quick attach" hitch was not

going to fit on the rear axle of the Super C. The Super C was set up

for a 3pt. hitch and the structure that supports this is welded on the

axle housing where you would normally mount the rear hitch.

My first question: Is there a special quick attach hitch for the

Super C??? Or did it use the 3pt. hitch as the rear support for a

dozer blade? I think I am going to broaden my quick attach to fit

in the few spaces that are open on the axle housing of the super C.

Anyway..... I ended up using this 56" Bolenz blade on my B-100

(the tractor closest to the other door). Went right on without a

problem. And I cannot believe that this big blade is no harder to

handle than the 42" blade I normally use. My goodness I was done

with the drive in two passes!!! And a reasonably heavy-wet snowfall.

I finished up by cleaning up parts of the back yard, out to the barn,

the mailbox and the neighbor's mailbox.

After putting the B-100 away... I could not resist a quick spin on

the super C. I started it...let it warm up a few minutes.... Then

attempted to drive it. But it would not move!! Hydro lever engaged,

motion control lever pulled back in reverse.....what the?

I let it warm up a few minutes more and it moved out with no

problem. My third question: Is this normal in cold weather for the

hydros to need more time to warm up, or is this indicative of a

problem I need to address?

I thought maybe I hurt it by dragging the Gt-14 and loader up the

hill the other day. But the super C ran around fine after that

initial delay....

Any help/advice is appreciated.

Mike,

I don't own a Super C, but I did check Toro's site to see how the 56 inch blade attaches. Here's the parts breakdown, I'm not sure if this will help or not:

The 195 takes the same rear attach as the GT14,it mounts on the front of the transaxle same as the GT. The uprights are suppose to bolt to the rear of the transaxle, and these bolts also hold the rear attachmatic. (see pics). You can just make out the plow mount, in the second you can see the mounting bolts

As for the Hydro, some of the Eaton 1100's are a little fickle, some take right off some can take up to 5 min. to work fully. One of my 195's takes right off in the cold and the other you have to wait even when its warm out, my 520 its inbetween. So as a rule of thunb I let them all warm up for a couple of minutes before useing.

The Quick atach on my d160 bolts to the front of the uprights that hold the lower 3pt. arms.

Thanks Terry.....gives me an idea of how to compare dozer blades.

It is my "theory" that the dozer blade is a different width for the super C

when compared to a standard 70's style of frame.

Refrac......the rear hitch is off of one of my GT-14's. Now it is possible

that the one on the GT-14 was not made for the GT-14....but that is

perhaps another dilema against me in getting it on the Super C.

I measured the "old style" quick attach and it was approximately 12" wide.

The uprights on the super C cover that 12" wide space.

Really appreciate the photos for future reference of what I am missing (3 pt.).

I will find a way to adapt it. Just maybe need to do some more critical

measuring of the super C axle housing vs. the rear hitch vs. the blade frame

width......lol I think I will need a physicist.....lol

I had one of those hitches left from my first C-195. I have to look but odds are I sold it. Might even be Steve(refrac) that bought it. :hide::D They were wider but I cant remember if it was the same width as the old wider hitches.

Guess I dont need to look then. Ive sold so much stuff I dont know what ive had or who I sold it to. :imstupid:

On a side note I do know that I sold the 56" C-195 snow plow to a kid that said he was going to mount it on his Grandfathers tractor. A manual lift tractor. :hide:

That B-100 that I put the 56" blade on is manual lift also. It is not too bad to lift.

Definately a difference, but not too bad.

You must be stronger or I did something different. When I tried that big 56" WH blade with 4 trip springs on my B-100 it dang near took two hands to lift it. I cant remember how it was connected, if I moved the plow frame to front holes or not.

I was also wondering....

Is the motion control lever suppose to return to neutral when the brake is applied like on the GT-14's??

Because mine does not. Was wondering if it is suppose to return to neutral, what is most likely wrong? Just rusted up?

10-4 on the return to neutral. If I remember correctly there is a rod that helps all of this move right along as you press the pedal. You should be able to see that on the Bandit. You have two of them now Teddy. hey should be pretty much the same 69-73. Other than a few minor details. Things like the fuel tank, from open grille to closed grille. Other than that not a whole lot of changes. Burly

But Burly....this post is about a C-195

I was only using the GT's as reference.

I don't know if the lever should move to neutral on the C-195

Well Sorry for being such a brainfade. My guess would be yes. My thoughts are all hydro tractors I believe should be that way, except manual transmissions. Burly

Yes the C-195 should go to neutral when the brake is set.

Thanks.... I will check into it as it does not work now.

Could be rusted up or p.o. robbed it of parts as he had

another super C he kept.

In reading the post, is the C-195, & the Super C , 2 differant tractors that WH made? I alwas thought the the Super-C & the C-195 are the same tractors! I have 2 of the 1982 C-195's & in cold or hot weather they both move right away & when you push on the peddel it returns to neutral.

Teddy, sorry it took me so long to find your post. I have been through the C195 dozer blade dilemma and can tell you that the dozer blade frame is the same width as all the others [that I have] but there is a difference in the way that they mount. The C195 uses D series style hangers that mount on the forward portion of the axle housing, the hangers actually grasp the cross shaft of the blade frame on the outside of the frame itself. The jaws of the latch mounted correctly are too wide to grab a standard dozer frame with the welded shaft, you must have the longer floating pin on the back of the frame too reach the latches. I hope this helps :hide: .

Thanks Jimmy....every little bit helps.

I think I have drawn that same conclusion upon seeing the various pictures.
