48" deck conversion questions

Recommended Posts

chorusguy

OK.  As I posted last week my deck ate a double d pulley.  Can't seem to find a replacement pulley.  I need to get this deck up and running.  I have another 48 with different style spindles in it but not sure if the spindles are any good.  Sound like they need to be greased and one if them has a leaking seal.  So my question if I want to replace all the spindles which ones do I use?  Will it affect belt size?  Deck fits c160

With a build date of 6327 your deck model number should be 75-48MS01.

Go into the Downloads and do a search for that model number. Click on All Content and change to Files and then search and 6 will come up.

Also use this manual to determine alternative spindle assemblies.
http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/files/file/671-chart-spindle-id-mower-rotary-1969-1989-35-pagespdf/

When you click on your model number a single page will come up with all the spindle designs on it.

You could post a "Wanted" ad here for the double "D" pulley, lots of them out there. Or you could take the old school route; get a ruler, flip the decks over and measure the blade height above the deck. If the two are real close to each other then it will work, may need to drill a new hole or four but it will work. Grease the one you plan to use and see how it sounds, if it is smooth turning I bet it will be fine.

Good luck.

Posted two ads.  No response yet.  Available from toro.  So will bite the bullet and get it from them.
