battery dying

Recommended Posts

chorusguy

C160.  Bought a new battery several months ago.  Started fine.  Used for a couple of weeks then battery was dead.  Charged it and used it for a month.  Battery dead.  Put a bit of a charge on it today (didn't fully charge it). Ran for awhile. Took a break.  Battery dead.  Amp meter is jiggling rapidly when running but never really swinging beyond zero.  I know I will get good help here but please understand I am an electrical idiot so please respond in simple layman terms.

 Thanks

Do you have multimeter (Something to measure voltage)?  There are some simple tests we can walk you through.  Without one we are taking shots in tehdark.  Most likely is teh voltage regulator has issues.

I would also start with downloading the C 160 Operations/Parts  manual with the electrical /wiring diagram so you can check connections o n all you wires on t the C160.

I would start with learning how to correctly troubleshoot electrical issues. :)  Here are two indispensable manuals for troubleshooting electrical issues, and in your case a non-charging battery. Your schematic is on Pg. 25 of the first manual. Good luck in your quest.
