fireman 1,022 #1 Posted July 4, 2015 (edited) I picked this up at the show this year. I was there Thursday around 1:00pm and was checking out what the vendors already had for sale. In the building in the far back corner was a mother and two daughters with this cart, another cart and a few other things. The other cart was a tub cart and had a fair amount of rust. This type cart I had never seen before. It looked really clean and original and had minimum rust. The price tag on it showed $75. I knew it was early in the show but I asked if they would do any better "hey I like I bargain just as much as anyone else". They all looked at each other and it was unanimous, the price was firm. That was fine with me as I was happy to pay that amount for it. Heck I would probably have paid more. Anyway thanks to a Wheeledhorseman's thread,http://www.wheelhorseforum.com/topic/44998-10-cu-ft-dump-cart-history-and-dating-them/#comment-413234I have some more info on it. It was made by Ohio Steel for WH from 1985 to 1993. Welded together instead of bolt construction. Solid rubber tires instead of pneumatic. I could not find a manual or parts list anywhere I searched. I'm gonna clean it up and fix the bare area on the front I assume is from the tire rubbing during a tight turn, and touch up the other small areas of rust. It doesn't look like the cart had a hard life and was probably stored inside given it's condition. The tires have no wear on them whatsoever. The sheet metal is all nice and straight. MalMac 1,332 #2 Posted July 5, 2015 Very nice find, not sure when Ohio Steel started making them for Wheel Horse. Back in the mid 60's to late 70's we sold them at are dealership. They were nice little trailers. One problem that we did have was people would bring them back because the Axel bracket that stretched across the bottom would start breaking out the bottom of the trailer. People would over load them, then pull them to fast and being a hard rubber tire there was no flex. Hitting bumps with no tire flex just transferred it to the Axel mounting. We repaired a lot of them. On this particular attachment Wheel Horse was kinda hard to get any reimbursement back to the dealers, even though we had to absorb the warrantee. After awhile we just stop selling them. Really was not Wheel Horse's or Ohio Steel's fault. It was the consumer that abused it. It's stills nice find and great addition to a collection. fireman 1,022 #3 Posted July 5, 2015 Thanks for the additional info. I could only find mention of this specific model in the master list from 85' till 93'. Not sure if the serial number on mine, 1991, is actually just the year of manufacture or just a coincidence. That's interesting that you say you guys sold them back in the 60's and 70's. That's originally how old I thought it was till I started doing some research and could find no mention of this model till 1985. The above link to the thread with Wheeledhorseman's research data confirmed what my research had also. So the mystery goes on! Either way it's a cool little dump cart and I'm thrilled to have found and purchased it.
