WNYPCRepair 1,923 #1 Posted June 18, 2015 I wasn't quite sure where to put this. An electric tractor. http://www.motherearthnews.com/renewable-energy/energy-efficiency/the-ac-lectric-tractor-zbcz1506zken.aspx
Racinbob 11,919 #2 Posted June 18, 2015 That's an interesting article and tractor. I'm sure most of the shortcomings of the GE have been addressed. I'll always want the sweet sound of a combustion engine but electric is coming on strong with the improvements in storage and charging.
WNYPCRepair 1,923 #3 Posted June 18, 2015 I found it interesting. I think some of the members here could build a much nicer looking tractor though. :)
Sparky-(Admin) 23,139 #4 Posted June 19, 2015 I always say if I found a Wheel Horse or Sears electric tractor I would snap it up.Mike..........
nylyon-(Admin) 7,880 #5 Posted June 19, 2015 I'm surprised someone hasn't made one. Why not take a Hydro, remove the engine, pop in a nice modern electric motor to drive the hydro, and fill the cavities with batteries!

Why not take a Hydro, remove the engine, pop in a nice modern electric motor to drive the hydro, and fill the cavities with batteries! Im working on one but its a long term and cash project (LiFePo4 batteries = $$$$$).With the awesome variable speed capabilities of electric (100% torque at practically 0 rpm) I would be using a geared trasmission to maximize drivetrain efficiency and a foot pedal control of motor speed.
