jimt1971 236 #1 Posted June 7, 2015 I have a 1054a with a bent rear axle. I also have an engineless GT14. I am wondering if the differential from the GT14 will fit in the 1054a?
jeremi3210 688 #2 Posted June 7, 2015 I think it might fit. The gt14 uses different bearings on the sides of the differential so you will have to remove the spacers. I think it's worth a try.
953 nut 51,877 #3 Posted June 7, 2015 Wow, that sounds interesting. It would take a lot of measuring and figuring to convince me to take the plunge. The rear sheet metal on the 1054A is attached to the frame and on the GT-14 it all bolts to the rear end. Fuel tank location could also be a challenge.Put them side by side and start looking, if you go for it remember,
jimt1971 236 #4 Posted June 7, 2015 Just the diff not the whole trans.
953 nut 51,877 #5 Posted June 7, 2015 If you used just the differential it would have no drive system to propel the tractor, needs to be transplanted as a complete unit. I know that a member here put an 8 speed in a GT-14 so I suspect the opposite is doable, just not sure what problems would be encountered.
