SteveinMo 0 #1 Posted June 4, 2015 I have a 10 HP Kohler. md. # 9094873. It is on a 1973 unit looks original. Cranks over well and I smell gas. No spark at the plug. Ran great last year now nothing. The coil has the external condenser. Where do I start looking for the voltage loss or read what voltage. Thanks for the help.
oldredrider 2,547 #2 Posted June 4, 2015 Try cleaning up the points first. Probably just oxidation.
Shuboxlover 474 #3 Posted June 4, 2015 Turn your key on and see if you have 12V to the positive side of the coil, if you do...then follow Paul's advice. If not, then it could be anything from a bad switch, bad wire, faulty safety switch etc..
953 nut 51,775 #4 Posted June 4, 2015 I would start with a new Champion H-10 spark plug.
pfrederi 17,147 #5 Posted June 4, 2015 If you want a new plug I would try anything but a Champion... Auto lite 216 works well for me. I have had too many Champions fail when under compression,
