Shuboxlover 474 #1 Posted May 24, 2015 Quick question guys.Does the magnum 8 (from a 308-8) have a 1 1/8" crankshaft, or is it 1"Thanks
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,504 #2 Posted May 24, 2015 Can't find an original parts list but the online lists show the 2 different pto inner races so have to assume the 8hp still used the 1" crank.Garry
Shuboxlover 474 #3 Posted May 24, 2015 That's what I would have thought...but....If you look at the toro master parts viewer, it lists the 7443 pulley (which is the same as a 520) but I thought for sure it would have used a 1" crank instead of 1 1/8". Can anyone confirm this???
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,504 #4 Posted May 24, 2015 Look down the list and you will see two other engine pulleys as well.#101875 - 4" OD x 1" ID for manual transmission#7466 - 4" OD x 1-1/8" ID for manual transmissionGarry
Shuboxlover 474 #5 Posted May 24, 2015 Well that's even more confusing, how do I know which one it's supposed to be???
wallfish 15,937 #6 Posted May 24, 2015 Measure the crankshaft or is this for an engine you don't have in hand?
Shuboxlover 474 #7 Posted May 25, 2015 I Don't have access to the engine.
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,504 #8 Posted May 25, 2015 Only an original parts list will indicate what pulley was used on each engine and we do not have one. Thanks to forums like this we have learned the pulley dimensions and that the 1" pto shafts were used on the Briggs and Stratton engines, the 8hp Kohler engines and a very few early 10hp models in the mid 1960's. Looking at the online parts lists one can see which engines that list applies to. The fact that the 1" pulley is listed means one of those engines used it and the only candidate is the 8hp Kohler based on what we have learned.Garry
