DUKE'S GARAGE CLEAN UP SECTION!

Recommended Posts

HorseFixer

Well as the ones that have been following the garage section mine was a mess  Maybe not the worst but bad enough, so you all have shamed me into doing the inevitable! I have put this off for WAAAY to long! :D

This is my plan, Lord knows I have a bunch "O" tractors that need restoration. But before I get into that I have a storage problem! It didn't take long for me to realize when I started collecting :omg: I needed an add on stable for more storage! This I built in the summer of 2007. It needs to be wired, insulated, and sheeted on the inside and painted. I will also need to install lighting

:D . After that I plan on building a 20' X 6.5' 42" tall platform to stack 6 horses on! " 6 more of them will be stored underneath. This is the only way I have found to store these horses in a small footprint of space! :hide: now the other problem how do I lift the tractors onto this platform? :omg: I have a foot operated Rolling Hydraulic Lift Table that I will put a 40" X 6' platform with ramps to lift these tractors safely into place on the platform. :D so on to the rest of my plans.

MyLiftTable006.jpg

The first order of buisness is to clean out my garage. This will allow me to take the present tractors that are stored in my add on stable and put them in the garage until I get the stable completed and the overhead platform built. Once the stable is completed they will be put back in there and 6 of them "smallest round hoods" will be put overhead on the platform for storage, until I can get to them for restoration. I also need to put a doorway in that leads into my main garage so I can wheel them in on my lift table for working on. All this in itself is going to be alot of work, and probably wont get all this completed till end of December or maybe January!

As you can see I have my work cut out for me! Nothing I tackle is easy! The storage problem needs to be solved first then onto the restorations and most likely the yellow 701 will be my first order of buisness, 2nd will be my 551. :hide:

Anyways Off to work I will post my progress here on the plans above!

Duke

I did the platform thing to when I moved into my current home.

My garage is only 26X20 and at the time I only had 6 machines

but I knew floor space was going to be in short supply.

e5b9.jpg

I use a 12 foot ramp that stores on the floor under my truck when not in use

to get the machines up and down...I can usually get them up myself but its kinda dangerous if you loose your footing...I just wait for help most of the time.

Duke, the only thing I see wrong with your "messy" garage is how neat and organized your fishing rods are.....looks like they have never been used!!!!.

Remember, God made the earth with 1/3 land, 2/3 water....therefore ye must spend 2/3 of ya time FISHIN'....

PS...I like your new storage space....

PSS...so if I brought you a Suburban 400 does that mean you will restore it for less than 1000 bucks for me?...just using your numbers less the tractor cost!! :hide:

Well I have been at it for 6 days straight took a little time off work to get a jump start on the clean up! I would rather take an azz whoopin :hide: I have thrown away about 20 contactor size 55 gallon trash bags of stuff away so far. I have been doing more than just an average clean up but cleaning and putting things away where they go! :D Everything in its place. I should have some pictures this weekend of the progress, its been slow but but have also been doing alot of equipment hook up and upgrades along the way. :hide:

Duke, Sounds like you have a good start on the garage cleanup. I guess if this keeps up we will have to drop out of the messy garage topic. :hide:

:hide: Ahhhh, fishing!

Good eyes Frank in Miz-ur-ah!

Shhh, don't tell him my little secret but I wonder if Duke knows that some great smallmouth fishing can be found in the St. Joe river that runs right through his town? Nice walleye too. And Salmon and Steelhead on their spawning runs spring and fall...

Then there are the pike around Edwardsburg and Dowagiac. And the Muskies out by Fort Wayne...And who can forget Lake Michigan with its perch and other species? or the Redear in Koontz Lake...or the largemouth in LaPorte...

If I ever move back to South Bend I think I might have to give up the tractor hobby to capitalize more on the fishing the area has...he really ought to leave those poles hanging in the shed or he's going to be short on "tractor time" and might have to clear a spot in the garage for a boat!

Hoping to not see him on the water (more for me),

Steve

Bob,

I like your platform - good thing you don't collect Edsels (D250's) :hide:. How high from the floor is it? I've been planning to do the same thing someday and was wondering about what I should expect when it comes to ramp lengths and platform heights. Yours seems manageable enough with the little tractors and is along the lines of what I was imagining.

Nick I am so disgusted with myself more than you will ever know! I'm really :imstupid: for letting my garage get in such shape! A couple years ago I was fixing to put MJ in a brand new kitchen, and I had to get the garage cleaned up in order to store my supplies and the new kitchen cabinets I had ordered from Kraft Maid and all my appliances were being delivered and at that time my garage was in complete dismay. So I went hell bent for election and did a major clean up and organization! I purchased a bunch of those Suncast Resin Cabinets from Sears and went on a complete clean up and organizing mission knowing I had to have room for storage for my kitchen stuff! Here is some pictures from 12/28/2006 almost 2 years ago. The problem was I had full concrete blocks and needed to raise these cabinets up and they needed front support. They also needed a plywood top and be suspended to prevent from crushing cabinets this is what I came up with.

Well if yer gonna enter the organized GARAGE CONTEST yer gonna loose cause this is the kinda job I'm doing now!!! :omg: I'm sick and tired of not finding anything!! And have decided to turn over a new leave! At the end of each days work or project I will allow ample clean up time! NEVER NEVER again thats why it is taking me so long on this cleanup cause I'm taking over where I left off! Funny thing everything in those cabinets and overhead in the storage bins is perfectly in its place its all the stuff I have hauled in or didn't clean up before thats in a mess :hide:

Now to the fishing questions!

Yer right Frank and Steve I love my fishing! I used to beat the water to death! :D And Steve know of all those places you have talked about! :hide: I need to get some things in order and get back after it!

A Bad Day At Fishin Is Better Than A Good Day At Work!

Well I am now on day 12 of the Garage clean up! I have thrown away more good stuff than you can shake a stick at! Last weekend I threw away 12 contactor size garbage bags full of stuff! Allot of good lumber, prolly about 800 lbs of brand new ductwork (remnants of inventory of when I was a self employed HVAC contractor 18 years ago, stuff stored in my attic :hide: ) anyways 6 more bags went in the trash today and I am forced to throw away more stuff like a 1945 Montgomery ward antique air compressor. Anybody want it? Better lemme know it runs but it is dusty. I was just using it for air storage cause I have a 5hp and a 3 hp twinned together so there it sat under my work bench. I'm not going to show any pictures of progress right yet but things are starting to come together! :D here are some pics of compressor and stuff thats going bye bye! My trash man is gonna hate me before this project is over! :omg:

That shelving you installed is impressive. :D Not sure if I can keep up and dont know that Ill ever get the garage that organized.

I cant find the pictures now but one year at the Constantine MI show there was a 1054 with an air compressor mounted on it. I wonder if you could pull that Wards apart and build something for a Horse with it. :hide:
