Bens704 6 #1 Posted May 5, 2015 1964 704 with pullstart, so the rope broke at the pulley and had to take apart to replace the pullrope, does anyone have a tip or trick to put it back together? They want 30$ at the lawnmower repair shop and id rather not spend the money and utilize it elsewhere. Thanks
Pullstart 59,977 #2 Posted May 5, 2015 I'm not sure if it's the written way in any manual, but I've always been able to manage partially assembling the recoil without spring tension, then using the rope to wind the assembly 4 or 5 times before pinching the entire thing together and check for tension. if you try it in this manner you should get the hang of what I'm talking about. otherwise just bring that 704 up to my place and I'll take good care of it for you! WH nut 553 #3 Posted May 5, 2015 The pulley has a notch in it. Put it all back together with the spring seated at both ends and the rope installed and hanging. Move the rope to the notch and wind to desired tension.
