JERSEYHAWG / Glenn 4,487 #1 Posted April 4, 2015 As most of you know I have been searching for the elusive Tecumseh H 60 for the 500 special. A gentleman in Conn. Sent me this for my tractor. A freebie. He had it on a 1966 wheel horse he parted out. Question is....what is it? Where are the Id numbers on it? Why white with a red tank? Thanks fellas. KC9KAS 4,741 #3 Posted April 4, 2015 (edited) I guess it depends what the engine came off of. If it came off of a SEARS, it would have been white in color. I have a WORK HORSE 700 that has a white engine on it. One of the PO's put a short block H-70 on it and it must be for a tiller, as it has an additional shaft that turns real slow compared to the crankshaft. tbarnhart 240 #9 Posted April 5, 2015 Cast iron block=HH60. Aluminum block=H60. Other than being original, the HH is better in about every way. Somewhere I saw a list of the internal differences. Stuff like forged rod and piston instead of cast. Stellite exhaust valve. Some hardening on cam and crank journals. I say rebuild and run it. 2 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I still never saw a white with red tank wheel horse motor. thanks for the help slammer. Everyone else to. who ever saw and white and red combo motor on a wheel horse, from the factory? Terry M-(Moderator) 2,126 #17 Posted April 6, 2015 (edited) You can spot an HH Tecumseh a mile away when it has the rusty cooling fins near the exhaust outlet. The one pictured looks to have almost everything you need. Some of the short frames (605,606,etc. ) came equipped with Tecumseh 6 hp hh60 with the tall filler neck on the gas tank from what I've seen including all 65-68 lawn Rangers like 305 said. just my 2 cents.....
