Drawings of Wheel Horses

Recommended Posts

Try Canvas. It's a good program for drawing, and it's also good for making scaled drawings, dimensioned drawings, etc. I use it here at work to compliment Unigraphics when I need to interface with UG and pdf type files. I even have it on my Mac at home.

I'll look in to that, Terry. As long as it's user-friendly (and cheap / free) I'll give it a whirl. :D

Well it's not cheap. About $350 for the software. I could have bought it for $50 since my company uses it, but I didn't. Here's the link to it:

Hmmmmm....

There's a decision that's easy to make -- buy a couple more Wheel Horses OR a small box with a CD-ROM inside so I can draw a couple more Wheel Horses. :D

It looks like it would be great to have and use, but the decimal point is one or two places too far to the right for me. :P

Well it appears that this topic has gotten bumped way back on the list, so I thought it would be nice to get something new on here. (I almost couldn't find it again! :D )

While sitting around on my butt waiting for the phone to ring (like for a job interview, ya know? ) I thought it would be cool to draw out my latest project "brainstorm" with the good old MS Paint program. :P

My situation being as it is right now, I doubt I'll get this in to reality before June, so I thought I'd let you guys see what was supposed to happen.

I'm sure that this picture is worth two or three thousand words, (and I've already wasted about 200 :D ) so I'll just post it and keep my mouth shut (for now :P ) -- however, I would be thrilled to hear your comments, and opinions!

That's cool  , Now is that a long frame with a short frame hood? or an extended frame and cut down hood? I like the lowpro rear tires and lowered fender. I need a set of trimrings for my 12" wheels, You do amazzing work with that ms paint.

As long as thats not a Tecumseh under the hood I like it  . And of course the whale tail on the rear will keep the traction on the pavement where its needed most right  .

Nice job!

I guess I will have to type a little...... :D

Karl -- thank you! I'm sure you know where the name came from!

Kelly & Mike -- It's an early (pre attach-a-matic) long frame with the battery box removed and the engine moved back as close as possible to the lower steering support. (I have an M12 Kohler that I was planning on putting back together -- and using magneto ignition means less wiring and clutter. )

Steering gear is stock, but the front axle would be a custom fabricated part with shortened spindles. Naturally the belt guard would be shortened and modified to fit.

The hood would be shortened (and the back refitted) so it will just clear the air cleaner (Thoughts of a velocity stack poking through a hole in the grille even crossed my mind. :P)

I was also thinking about shortening the hoodstand (or using the one from my 855) to the point of the hood scoop being needed to cover the spark plug - and maybe even part of the top of the engine! (with a slight modification of the blower housing, as needed.)

I found a site that has low-profile 12" tires for golf carts OR had thought about 14 or 15 inch stock steel (widened) car rims with 40 series tires for the rear.

The rear fenders would get dropped as low as possible and the rear spoiler would be a hand-built custom piece. I intended on mounting the battery (a smaller 4 wheeler or motorcycle type) under the rear fenders -- possibly on the left side of the transaxle.

The "primered" one could stand to have a little bit taller tires on the back to give it the "raked" look, but it's still pretty  !

The CSC "Mr. Horsepower" woodpecker has to be what does it.

With the wondeful ( :P ) Penn State University right on the other side of the mountain from me, I'd have to compete with their graduates for a job.

I went to the School of Hard Knocks, have a B.S. in B.S., and have a total of 98.6 degrees....... someone HAS to hire me, right ? :D

For what it's worth Terry, I have been a technical manager and I for one don't put much merit on a degree. When I was a manager with Fort James Paper (bought by Georgia Pacific) the smartest and most hard working employee I had was a 54 year old woman who barely graduated High School BY FAR. When interviewing some of these guys with degree's, it was clear to me that they attend college for the "Animal House" effect, and I wouldn't give half of them jobs sweeping the hall way.

I haven't met you (yet) but from your posts you are far more qualified than the kids from over the hill for many subjects, not just little red tractors.

Well said, Karl. I couldn't agree more. The best employees are the ones who are motivated and have the ability to do the job. College grads, regardless of the degree, sometimes aren't the best employees. When I started work here some 20 odd years ago we had a college graduate with a BS in Engineering who did NOT know how to read a blueprint. He was useless to the group as he could not make an engineering drawing. In fact, he thought that was a minimal task that was far below his skills and expertise. I'm sure he is no longer with the company. Probably some manager somewhere now.
