TJ 171 #1 Posted November 1, 2008 :USA: I just received a new starter recoil for my Tecumseh H60. The problem is that it is too small for my cowel. The P/N I received is 490420A, and is supposed to be interchangable with the original P/N 590449. The model # on the cowel is H60 75063B. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :banghead:
BPjunk 184 #2 Posted November 1, 2008 I do not have my Tecusmeh numbers in front of me but I gather you have the old cast recoil on your engine and you were given the a smaller diameter stamped steel unit. Take a look on the recoil of this 552 and tell me if this is what you have. Wild Bill in Richmond, Va. Attached Image
BPjunk 184 #3 Posted November 1, 2008 And this was the type you were given right? Wild Bill in Richmond, Va. Attached Image
TJ 171 #4 Posted November 1, 2008 Yes, the second pcture looks like the recoil I bought. The first picture looks more like the size I'm looking for. Would you happen to know the P/N. Thanks.
BPjunk 184 #5 Posted November 1, 2008 Not off the top of my head and I think you will have to find this used as it maybe NLA. Wild Bill in Richmond, Va.
sorekiwi 761 #6 Posted November 1, 2008 Is your old recoil missing? or does it need repair? You dont see many of the old cast ones around, it may be easier to find a blower housing to match your new recoil.

sorekiwi 761 #8 Posted November 1, 2008 You could ask around your local mower/small engine shops. Plenty of blown up Tecumsehs around! (sorry Bill ) If its possible it might be worth getting the cup that's bolted on the flywheel too, as they vary in depth, and I'm not sure which one you need..
