what's it worth 1994 520H

Recommended Posts

608KEB

I've found a 1994 520H for sale. It has a snow cab. The back window is broke. It's missing a bracket by the left side of the seat. But the cab is in good shape. Its not faded. It comes with a plow and a 2 stage Wheel Horse snow thrower. The tires are all weather cracked. It has 50 lb wheel weights and chains. It looks like its been outside most it's life. The paint is really rough. Its rusting from underneath. No rust holes in it anywhere. It only has 311 hours on it. All the gauges work including the hour meter. 1 owner tractor. There was no smoke or funny noises from the engine. The transmission works good. The lights all work. The lift works good. It was used only for clearing snow. I wish I would have taken some pictures. So what do you think its worth? I would have to completely take it apart. If I wanted it looking nice. It did start right up too. The engine was surging. But that's not a big deal.

Good running 520 but ugly, $400, 2 stage blower usable may need TLC, $400, cab needs part, $150, weights if plastic $75 if cast iron $150+

That set up here in CT could easily fetch $1500 or more but location matters and overall condition. What is has going for it is the 2 stage blower and cab along with the very low hours.

I think it's a fair price at 750. If it sat outside for most of it's life, it is going to need a lot of attention. Fuse blocks, terminal connectors and ends. Wire harness connectors. The tires are weather checked, paint gone with surface rust. Seat is most likely shot. The cab needs attention and I would bet if it sat outside all the time, that cab is probably brittle and may not have much more useful life left. (UV Damage) The 2 stage blower makes the price right especially if it doesn't need rebuilt. Even with the low hours, it will have some goblins to coral and tame unless it is the one and only Wheelhorse 520 that isn't effected by moisture. 750 too 850 is a fair price if it is how it was described.

$750 for a working 520 w cab and blower. Not bad.

O.k I'll see it I can pick it up tomorrow. It also has a 48" plow in o.k.shape. Everything looked straight. It just looked like it sat outside...What a shame. I was just thinking what the tractor and accessories cost new.

Even if you need to put a decent amount of work in to make it look pretty, that's a very good deal for just a running 520H not to mention with all the attachments!

Strictly judging by the decals and emblems I would say 94. However 94 and 95 could be the same in that department. They match my 94 416h. I guess the sticker on the fender under the seat on the left is faded or gone?

59xxxxx serial number = 1995

49xxxxx would indicate 1994

You did well! I purchased a 96 w cab and single stage 110 hours for $500 a few years back. Traded it for a 314h. I typically regret it when I'm burying the 2 stage in a large snow bank.

If you're planning on using the blower it's probably time for some maintenance. The auger bushings are junk. A few members have replaced them with greasable bearings available at TSC. Rear impeller bearing needs grease and looking after. And the chain and tensioner wear quickly.

A few more pics. Got some electrical gremlin's. It needs a new ignition switch. All the dummy light are staying on. I replaced the 30 amp fuse. It worked but was partially melted. Took the cab and wheel weights off. The back tires are in better shape than I thought.

Just looks dirty.

I've seen a few of the 9 pin plugs replaced with bullet connectors and even straight splices.

You will be amazed what a good washing will do. Then you will really be shocked if you buff it. Also try McGuire scratch remover 2.0. It's shines better than most polish. Couldn't believe what it does with a wool buff wheel!

I'm excited about the find. I drove through Westby about 4-5 month ago and saw the 520 next to a repair shop. I didn't think much about it. 2 days ago I drove through again. I didn't stop. But on my way back I decided to check it out. The guy at the repair shop said it was his brothers. Said he wanted $750.00. I told him to relay the message that I would give him $500.00 the rest is history! I probably will sell the two stage snow thrower and cab.

You got a great deal.

I bet it wlll clean up nice.

If you decide you don't want the 2-stage, let me know.

My brother is looking for one.

The raised hood emblem and 59xxxxx serial make it a '95

      Very Solid tractor!

Newer Agro Tires on Rear and Solid Front Turf Tires. Wheel Weights on rear. Fully Swapped Forward Swept axle off of 520h. I ran my 60" Deck on this tractor for over a year with no issues.
Deck it solid top to bottom with no rot and newer blades. Belt and Pulley are good to go!
She's just a little dusty and needs a cleaning. Can get a nice Seat a Tractor Supply.

Now that we are finding more uses for the 1990 520H with a KwikWay loader I am experiencing some power loss in the hydro after about a half hour to 45 minutes??????
      Ideas?

Selling my trusty WH520H.  ~880 hours (currently used for moving snow when needed so hours may rise) very solid machine, strong and hardworking.  20HP Onan, hydro transmission and hydraulic lift.  Has Matt's foot-pedal conversion for forward/reverse.  Included in the sale is a tall-chute snow blower and 60" mowing deck.  The blower is in excellent condition and is on the tractor currently.  The mowing deck has been a workhorse over the years.  No holes but could use some TLC, probably needs new spindles at some point and could use a couple spots touched up with welder also does NOT have any pulley covers/protectors (see photo).  Tractor has been an incredible tool, very solid and dependable and I'm certainly going to miss her when she's gone.

Recent maintenance: replaced the plugs this summer, fluids as needed (hydro has about 100 hours on fluid/filter; oil was done in the spring and has about 25 hours on it).  Battery is about 3 years old as are the tires, Terra Trac tires on the rear and turfs on the front.  The seat (with arm rests) isn't in great shape.  I've got a cover for the seat, never used.  It's never really bothered me but new seat cover is included in sale as are 4 hub caps, chains for the rear tires, and some misc spare parts (see photos).

I've owed this machine about 8 year and put ~350 hours on her.  She's not a show piece but could be restored.  Sheet metal is generally in shape, no rust however the hood does have a couple dings in it.

I'm only selling because I'm trying to help my son get a small lawn care business started and looking to move to a zero-turn.  The 60" deck is too large for our trailer, the mowing deck lacks pulley safety shields, and we'd like something that mows faster.  My only complaint with this machine is the top-speed (which isn't great when comparing to today's machines) otherwise she's a beast.  They don't make them like this anymore.

I have a new-to me 1990 520 with a KwikWay loader. Have been going thu piece by piece and checking for anything that needs attention. Found some wobble in the rear hubs (both sides) the key ways on both the axles and hubs shoe some pretty heavy wear.  Was wondering if you have used the hub repair kits that A-Z sells and any comments good or bad?
      Thanks
      Bob
