420 LSE PTO question

Recommended Posts

Anyone know the diameter of the crankshaft of the 420 where the PTO is mounted? Reason I ask is I have a magnum 20 and I would like to run a wheelhorse pto set up on it but the crank is 1-7/16" diameter. Is the 20 horse in the 420 the same? I found the part number for the pto sleeve/bearing for the 420 but I cannot find a size spec. Thanks, Richie

And no, I do not have a 420 LSE.

The 6658 bearing race # 6658 also fit the 1990 312-8 so it is for a 1-1/8" diameter crankshaft.

I think the only other race was for a 1" diameter crankshaft on the 8hp models.

Was thinking the 520HC had a 1-7/16 crank. It used a different spec number than the 520h, anyway.

Cranks can be cut down. I watched a old guy do one, started the engine and used a 4 inch grinder then finished it with grit. I'd have sworn that it wouldn't work but the engines still working for him. Started as 1 1/2 and cut down to 1 1/8.

I checked the toro website and they show the same crank bearing race for the h and hc #6658. No biggie. Ill just go a different route with my idea. Thanks though!

My c175 race and a c81 both had the same outer diameter but had different inner diameters. Maybe a different model might have one that will fit? Maybe I'm not thinking on the same page as the rest of you? 2cents
