What do you think?

I have recently did a  rebuild on my 16hsp, it busted the rod and chipped the bottom of the cylinder so I used a different block, have cleaned the carb several times and here's the problem, now it will  idle fine for a few minutes but then wants to rev up, not much but some, if I reach up and push the linkage closed it idles fine for a few minutes then revs up again, I'm thinking governor gear? :eusa-think:  Don't really want to tear it down again, but hey. Looking for any input.  Thanks

Do you have the throttle/governor linkage hooked up correctly and did you adjust the governor as instructed in the manual?

Yes, have readjusted everything several times, carb, governor linkage, and the timing.

Hello, I went out and checked the rotation and there's not much, less than a 1/4 of a turn.

How much is the governor shaft suppose to turn when everything is loose?

Less than 1/4 turn.

I would go back and readjust the governor again according to the directions in the manual.

How much play is there in the carburetor shaft? If you have movement, wiggle it while running and see if it changes.
