who's in the home improvement line of work? tax help?

I admit, I'm not directly in the area. I take care of foreclosed properties for the banks. I do everything from mowing to whole roof replacement. I'm a subcontractor and basically am my own business. This is my first year, so who has advice or anecdotes? Feel free to go off-topic.

Document everything from daily logs to mileage and keep all receipts. There is a lot you can write off
