JimD 3,345 #1 Posted December 13, 2014 (edited) I just ran across this video on youtube and had never seen or heard of this cooking method before and wondered if any of you grillers and party barbeque cooks have ever tried this, Looks pretty interesting and well, different, but it worked. Just curious if anyone here has tried and what you think about it. Edited December 13, 2014 by JimD
Racinbob 10,348 #2 Posted December 13, 2014 That's pretty neat! I'm gonna have to try that. I have to wonder what the temperature could get to in the summertime here in Florida.
Geno 1,928 #3 Posted December 13, 2014 I've seen a lot of stuff like that on the survival sites but never used one. Can't see why it wouldn't work.
Aldon 4,826 #4 Posted December 13, 2014 Yup. They work. When sunlight is available. Surprisingly effective if you are not accustomed to it.
Coadster32 793 #5 Posted December 14, 2014 (edited) Something else to try this coming summer. The only thing I'd do differently is put the thermometer in the meat. Edited December 14, 2014 by Coadster32
"D"- Man 827 #6 Posted December 14, 2014 I have seen a fellow cooking with a fixture he made out of a lens from the front of a projection TV and believe me it works! He also made a solar sight to find the best angle to position the panel in so it would achieve the most concentration from the sun.
JimD 3,345 #7 Posted December 14, 2014 That's what that is in the video. A big projection tv lens from a big screen.
