KyBlue 655 #1 Posted December 8, 2014 my Snow Plow has been missing the angle lever since I got it ...NOT COOL! I'm not about to pony up the cash for a new one from Toro, and Honestly Geno just wants far too much for the NOS one he has So I made my own ... Nothing Spectacular but thought I'd share so others can duplicate... Simple stock steel from TSC a Vice and my Jewlers Torch. Oh and a Hammer and Adjustable Wrench (to aid in bending and squaring) Still have the squeeze lever to weld up and mount then she'll be all ready for paint.
Molon_Labe 731 #2 Posted December 8, 2014 Looks good to me Blue! I've got TSC rod and flat stock all over my tractors, I'm just glad they keep a good selection for us do-it-yourselfer's.
daveoman1966 3,841 #3 Posted December 8, 2014 (edited) I've done the same using 1.25" wide flat stock...work great.. For the rubber hand grip, take the similar round hand grip from the implement lift handle. Just flatten it in your hand and push it onto the flat bar handle. You MAY want to knock off the sharp edges of the flat bar though. Edited December 8, 2014 by daveoman1966
Racinbob 11,959 #4 Posted December 8, 2014 Looks great Blue. Is my mind messing with me again? Didn't you furnish a bunch of great smoked eats at Geno's meet and greet? Geno, how could you!!???
bmsgaffer 2,053 #5 Posted December 8, 2014 Nicely done! The TSC i visit doesnt have a good selection (middle of a city, so i think its pretty slow). I tried to do that with aluminum... didnt go thick enough, just folds over. I will be getting some steel and building one soon!

I will be getting some steel and building one soon! was just a matter of drilling a few holes and getting it cherry red hot and then it'll bend like butter. Looks great Blue. Is my mind messing with me again? Didn't you furnish a bunch of great smoked eats at Geno's meet and greet? Geno, how could you!!??? that was something taken care of between geno and I... Lol I had asked about the lever months ago. I'd rather make one to be honest. Just hate using Nos parts...
bmsgaffer 2,053 #7 Posted December 8, 2014 Aha. Dont have a torch. I do have a welder though so I may just cut it into sections and reweld it. Or may look into making a finger brake from a harbor freight press... dont really have room for that either though... Someday!
KyBlue 655 #8 Posted December 8, 2014 Get the Metal and come down... I'll do it for you... No problem.

To be clear for everyone here it's not that I want too much for it at all. It was never priced and is not for sale. It was given to me by mine and dads best friend and old now Toro dealer along with many thousands of dollars worth of other new old stock parts that are also not for sale and I try not to mention on here because I didn't want people to think they were for sale.

JoeM 8,371 #12 Posted December 8, 2014 What do people do with those levers? I have had 4 different plows and 2 of the 4 were missing the angle lever! I bet there is an abandoned warehouse somewhere full of these levers. Or……It maybe aliens! Good job on that one!

Wishin4a416 2,191 #14 Posted December 8, 2014 Looks good! That will do the job when your done fabbing.
Mr. 856 170 #15 Posted December 9, 2014 funny mine was/is missing the other rod that goes to the plow to change the angle! By chance could you tell me does that rod bolt on or just "elbow" off with a cotter pin? 1/2" round rod? nice job on your handle. That will surely get it done and last a long time.
rollingflat 123 #16 Posted December 9, 2014 Nice job on the lever a little paint and better than new!!
cheesegrader 433 #17 Posted December 9, 2014 856, My link rods all elbow off and are held in place with cotter pins. If you hit something solid, the cotter pin fails without bending other, more expensive parts.

By chance could you tell me does that rod bolt on or just "elbow" off with a cotter pin? 1/2" round rod? nice job on your handle. That will surely get it done and last a long time. Both ends are just bends and Cotter Pins I believe. I'll double check when I go up to the shop tomorrow night. Will get you pictures if you'd like.
KyBlue 655 #19 Posted December 10, 2014 Nice job on the lever a little paint and better than new!! Exactly ... Thinking I'll let Geno use some of his Rattle Can Skills to get it up to my Standards ... Will get the handle fabbed tomorrow night. Sadly my Welder was damaged when it was on loan to somebody and is out of commission till they give me the money for a new torch (they cut through 90% of the wiring) So I'll have to go old school and braze it together...
Mr. 856 170 #20 Posted December 10, 2014 Kyblue.....pictures would be great if its not to much trouble. I am sure I can make something work. Im more interested in what is used as material for the rod. Im assuming it 1/2" rod.
KyBlue 655 #21 Posted December 10, 2014 I'll get ya some pictures tomorrow when I get back from work. I'll also measure the Rod, I'd say it's 1/2 cuz it needs a 1/2 hole...
Geno 1,929 #22 Posted December 10, 2014 It is 1/2" mild steel rod. The hole should be a little over 1/2".
