Shutting Down for Renovations

Recommended Posts

RMCIII

Many of you know, one of my offices, is at the Icon @ Cleveland Clinic.... Well, come November 22nd, the hotel is shutting down for some much needed renovations...... It will be shut down until February 5th.... That is a long time for an hourly worker to go without work... Lucky for the team, they are part of a HUGE/Mega company. I've made some great connections throughtout my career with PSAV. In some really great places also.

Well, last week, I drafted an email, that went to any RVP I had networked with in the past.... This included, Orlando, Miami, Dallas, Los Angeles, Los Vegas, NY, Chicago, Hawaii..... The email gave some pretty great detail about the technicians skill sets... Almost instantly I heard back from Chicago and a couple other cities.... What I was not expecting to see/hear was from a place that is 12hrs. away in flight time! :scared-eek:

Yep, an old comrad of mine, from when we were in Cali. together turing an account around sent an email back... He needs help in Hawaii..... Badly. He said if I would let them go tomorrow, he would take them....... How do you like that for places to go when it is cold! :woohoo:

I asked the team if they had any reservations about traveling to another state for work... Then I kind of played it up a little. " Sorry guys I did the best I could" we have to take what we can get.... I told them about Chicago and a couple of the other cities that has showed interest.... Their responses were to be expected.. Well, at least it is work, was the response..... Then I told them about Hawaii..... Man, if I only would have had my cell phone camera on...... It get's even better. I know the company well. They will not fly 4ppl to Hawaii for just a couple weeks..... The probability is they will be in Hawaii for at least a month or more. The company will want to get its ROI on the expenses they are going to put out...

Gotta really feel bad for them! NOT! They are a great team and deserve a nice place to work for a month or 2.

Pardon my ignorance, but I have no idea what you are talking about. I don't know who you work for, or what you do other than collect Wheel Horse's.

PSAV, RVP? It's all Greek to me. :scratchead:

I agree with Bob...no idea what all those acronyms mean or what you and your team do.

But I do understand working in Hawaii as I work there a couple times a year. Just got back a week ago from a two week stint in Pearl Harbor, probably be back in January (great time to not be in Connecticut/New England!)

PSAV:

http://www.psav.com/

Lighting, sound, staging, video, wireless technology, event production, content creation. Anything associated with hotels, convention centers, resorts, casinos when it comes to meetings, CONVENTIONS or CONFERENCES (cap. becasuse of my other thread 1st. Annual Wheelhorse Convention), socials, sales roll-outs.... ect.

RVP - Regional Vice Presidents, ROI - Retunr on Investmentsm,

Craig - wish I was going.... But I will have to stay and watch over the other accouts I manage. So the team gets to go and have fun in the sun, while I am here in the snow! :banghead:

The point was the team gets to take off for a month someplace nice and warm to keep them gainfully employed, and they get to do it in probably the nicest place one could want to be during the winter.... :woohoo:  :laughing-rofl:

Well Rob, thanks for spelling out what RVP'sand ROI means, but even your LINK doesn't explain what PSAV stands for so I'm still in the dark waiting for your lighting guys to show up. Ahh crap, they're headed to Hawaii. :bitch::ychain:

SOOOOO, had the conference call yesterday.... Yep, the crew is going to Hawaii! WOW :scared-eek:  It will not be for the 2 months though, just 1 month. As much as they do want them in December, the cost to fly them to Hawaii, then get them home for Christmas, then back again after the holidays, just is not the best decission. But they do want them starting in January/ so they get to be in Hawaii for the best time of season to be in Hawaii, they also will be able to see whale migrating! :woohoo: How cool is that? Average temp in January is 75 degrees... I think they will be ok with the work in Hawaii......

They will be staying in Oahu. But will be used throughout the islands. We have 15 accounts in the Hawaiian islands. So they will have a great opportunity to see much of Hawaii overall.

Well, if it makes it interesting... I have tasked the team, if at all possible, to get some photos of a Wheel Horse, in Hawaii! That should liven up this thread.

I wish them luck! I have probably made 15 trips to Hawaii (Oahu) and I have never seen a "real" Wheel Horse. I have seen a Toro Wheel Horse lawn mower like Home depot sold for a few years....but they don't count.

Well, it would be like finding a needle in a haystack... But sure would be neat to see it!
