I went to advanced auto parts and asked but they said that they don't think anyone carries type A any more.

Type A is what eventually became Dexron, Dexron III is backward compatible with type A.  :)

TT

You will also want to verify the current fluid & hydro type regardless of what was originally recommended.

It's not uncommon to see tractors with Sundstrand Hydrogear units that were switched over to motor oil.

My local farm coop (MFA Oil C) has supplied Type A for years and still do.....the old Case tractors (800 series) used Type A in the power steering and the hydraulic control system....I still use Type A....does that make me "old school"?.....yepper!!! :text-merryxmas:

TT is correct...if the oil is red...it is Type "A" or Dexron III.  If it looks like regular motor oil "golden", it is probably 10W-30.  :)
