Fordiesel69 226 #2 Posted October 11, 2014 if not using the pto, just about any single cyl diesel will work.
varosd 1,185 #3 Posted October 11, 2014 Or one of these? http://www.harborfreight.com/engines-generators/gas-engines/22-hp-670cc-v-twin-horizontal-shaft-gas-engine-epa-61614.html
Ken B 3,116 #4 Posted October 11, 2014 (edited) I'm waiting to hear how these 22hp Harbor Freight engines are from someone I trust. It sounds like a pretty good deal but at 700 bucks I don't really consider it a throw away engine, Parts NEED to be available. If the Onan in my 520 or one of my KT17's grenade something like this could be an option... Edited October 11, 2014 by Ken B

cleat 4,996 #6 Posted October 11, 2014 I was wondering the same thing and was watching these guys but due to EPA they do not bring over engines at this time. http://a1biofuel.net/ Cleat

cleat 4,996 #8 Posted October 11, 2014 To do a diesel swap in a 520 what size engine would get the same result as the original 20 HP Onan ? a 20 HP diesel ? Just wondering. Cleat
shallowwatersailor 3,213 #9 Posted October 11, 2014 That 13 hp diesel would have been pretty close to equal in torque with the Onan. Man, I waited too long as I was going to do just that. Has anyone seen the 22hp twin at Harbor Freight? It is a myth around here.
raiderman83 1 #10 Posted October 11, 2014 Yea i thought harbor freight only had upto like 8 or 10hp. They seem like sketchy buisness to me tho
shallowwatersailor 3,213 #11 Posted October 11, 2014 I just checked the Carroll Stream website. Their two 10 hp diesels are EPA approved. Plus I noticed that the prices have gone up.
