82Caddy 851 #1 Posted October 7, 2014 Hi all, New guy here with some hopefully easy to answer questions. Long story short, I acquired my grandpa's old Wheel Horse Commando 800, 3 forward speeds and reverse. It has a mower deck (works wonderfully) and a snow blower attachment that has seen better days. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures right now. I tried looking on the side for a serial number or a specific year of manufacture and it seems like the tags are all gone. I'd like to get a snow blade and there is one locally for a make an offer price and I'm not sure if it will fit my tractor. It's a wheel horse 42 in snow/dirt blade. Any tips or suggestions would be great! Thanks!

squonk 39,045 #5 Posted October 7, 2014 I think if you move that rear bar into the forward hole it will work.
KC9KAS 4,741 #6 Posted October 7, 2014 You will need an axle bracket to attach the plow to your tractor.
82Caddy 851 #7 Posted October 7, 2014 What do these axle brackets look like? So I know what to ask for...
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 10,531 #8 Posted October 8, 2014 Back in 1972 the blade for your tractor came in 2 packages Garry
82Caddy 851 #9 Posted October 8, 2014 Thanks for the info everyone. Talked with the seller and it turns out he has the axle brackets. Going to take a look at it in the morning. Hopefully it'll work out.

82Caddy 851 #11 Posted October 10, 2014 (edited) Got the blade on and found a few issues. Conveniently didn't take pictures of that but... Even Ellie approves. Issues found: 1.) Can only turn the blade to the right and not the left because the arm runs into the running board. So I either need to modify the handle or modify the running board. 2.) Lift arm parts are not "correct" but work. I need a longer J hook like this: I guess I'll venture over to the introduction area since it looks like I'll be around for a bit... Geno 1,928 #12 Posted October 10, 2014 You could also lengthen the rod underneath or move the pivot point forward. It would put the arm farther away but it would work.
Jack Fate 7 #13 Posted October 11, 2014 That looks like my gt 14 blade set up . I can't figure out how to get the connection to the hyd arm . Have all parts even the poor oem instructions . Ran hyd. all the way both directions . Conn arm seems 3-4" to long. All parts are correct as my brother bought new & has been mounted many times before . Must be a trick here I'm missing Wanted to post this to a new thread but could not Sorry about the hijack but HELP
squonk 39,045 #14 Posted October 11, 2014 Lots of us use a chain from the lift arm to the plow to raise it. With a solid link it's tough to keep from digging in to the ground. especially with hyd.lift.
Jack Fate 7 #15 Posted October 11, 2014 Did that trick on my old simplicity . May use that on the horse ,Thanks I got one more thing too try. Think my 3pt hitch may be limiting the hyd. Travel thus the conn. bar seeming too long At work now maybe tonight Thanks again
82Caddy 851 #16 Posted November 5, 2014 On this topic kinda since I started it... Top hitch attachment in this photo. I acquired an ATV salt spreader for free. Looks very similar to this: It works just fine but has a truck style attachment for the hitch. I could fab something up but lack the free time at the moment due to the new house and getting it ready for winter. It doesn't help that my new shop isn't wired up for 220 electrical. So my question is, has anyone used this style attachment before with a salt spreader or anything really? I figured if the rear end would hold up to the extra weight it would be ideal since the added weight of the salt plus fluid filled tires with chains and wheel weights would work out well for pushing snow around. Anyone see any problems with that style hitch attachment?
82Caddy 851 #17 Posted November 5, 2014 Nevermind...I searched around some more and found another way to modify things I already had to make my own. Just need to make a trip to my friends house to weld two pieces of angle iron onto the receiver hitch.
