Rim Color

I am repainting the rims on my 857.  It seems they are originally a cream color.  Has anyone found a good color match in a rattle can?

I don't know, but I think I am replacing the original tires as they had the Wheelhorse logo.  After 47 years I don't know why they had so much dry rot LOL.  The rear rim interiors look as they had recently come from the factory.  That is why i'm sure cream is the original color.

I have been using Rustoleum Navajo White on my C141 rims.  It's a bit more creamy than I would like, but less so than almond.  Quite frankly, I like Craig's Antique White choice.  I wish I had stumbled onto that first   I guess the best answer is that since the Rustoleum "linen" is NLA, there is no correct shade, so pick whatever you want and be happy about it.

Valspar is easy for me to get, I'll go with Antique white.  I'm not trying to make a museum restoration but when I can I try to stay true to original.  Oh if almond is 1980s,  is avocado or harvest gold 1970?

Just to memorialize this, here is a photo of the inside of the rim and what I believe is the OEM finish (never exposed to light also).  I held a bright white item in the picture to show the contrast.

I'm going to look at the samples at the store before I commit to it but right now I'm leaning toward Almond as It seems that appears to be the closest match.

I have dismounted dozens of tires from Wheel Horse rims. Seems there were no two alike when it came to colors. Just go with what you like and it will look 100 times better than what's on there now.

I used Rustoleum Canvas White on my 160. I really liked the color, but the paint was hard to find. Most places didn't have it.

I'm using Krylon ivory on my Suburban rims and seat. Haven't started the rims yet but I've got the seat done and I'm quite happy with the color.

Here are the rear wheels mounted with the Almond color.  Not much to look at as I am part way in the rebuild.

I use Rustoleum Canvas White but that Almond Epoxy  is a nice color and seems to adhere better.  I used it on one project tractor !

 

 

Good to see you getting that tractor restored ED !    Hope you get to use it with your snowplow this winter!
