RMCIII 838 #1 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) So I am at work and my wife is blowing up my cell phone with calls and text messages.... Course I can't answer becasue I am in a meeting with a client. I finally have a minute to call her. She asks me, "did you see my text?" I said " I have been in a meeting, what do you need?" She replies " do you think we have enough branches now for the mulch we need?" I finally look at he photos... What in the H#(( happened to the fornt yard.... Well, you did not call me back so I just told them to keep piling the brances up!!!!!!!!! The pile is 7' high, 10' wide and 30' long. It does tapper off slightly in the last photo, but still! Judge for yourselfves... I had to take 3 photos in order to show the entire massive cluster of brances I have to chip/shred on Saturday........ RMCIII 838 #7 Posted October 2, 2014 Craig - I was looking at the Poly carts... My concern was I thought over time, the walls would eventually start to weaken.... How long have you had yours? I see it does have a nice load in it. Rob

shallowwatersailor 3,213 #12 Posted October 2, 2014 (edited) Rob, Make sure that you have enough gas. I have had a poly 12 cu. ft. cart for over four years. It is usually the first cart I grab and actually sits under the trees unprotected. I have drilled holes just below the top edge because when leaned back for storage it does collect water. I have been very happy with mine and usually end up overloading it without a problem. With having the 2" receiver hitches, I have installed ball hitch couplers on my towed pieces. Woke up one morning in February and had a good part of 70 feet of trunk laying across the road and blocking it. The good thing is in another month I'll be keeping warm with it! RMCIII 838 #14 Posted October 4, 2014 Ok, so I got my cart.... You guys talked me into it. Poly! http://www.homedepot.com/p/AllFitHD-12-5-cu-ft-1250-lb-Capacity-Poly-Swivel-ATV-Cart-AF-1250PS-ATV/202674460?cm_mmc=Shopping%7cBase&gclid=CLH8lvLiksECFaQ7MgodV2AAbg&gclsrc=aw.ds Definately did not pay the $299. The one I have is exactly like this except no "ball" hitch. What I am digging about it already is it has slots for additional side panels < optional. It also has spacing for plywood to divide the bed into 3 sections if you want, and slots for 2"x4" so you can set something above the bed< if that makes sense.... And this thing is LIGHT WEIGHT! Day is planned, I'll take a video of the pile once completed. Rob
KC9KAS 4,741 #15 Posted October 4, 2014 1250 pound capacity...WOW that sound pretty "heavy duty" to me!
RMCIII 838 #16 Posted October 5, 2014 No photos, or videos... Way too much work!!! So, after 6hrs. of 3 people working steady, we are almost 1/2 way through the pile...... I can tell you that so far, we have chipped and shredded, 40 cubic feet of mulch.... That is 3 heaped carts, and just a tad in #4..... I would estimate we still have about 5 more carts to go.... That would mean we would end up with 100 cuic feet plus of mulch/chipped wood..... That is a WHOLE bunch of wood to chip/shred...So dry chipped wood is about 23lbs, per cubic foot...23 x 100 = 2300lbs of chipped/shredded wood....... I am already tired and still have a little more than 1/2 to go...... Anyone looking to purchase a slightly used chipper?
