mattd860 162 #1 Posted September 11, 2014 I have an old 6" American made bench grinder that is top notch and works great but on one side it's missing the "washers" that sandwich the grinding wheel in place. I've tried using regular washers and making my own parts to work but so far I have had no success. What are these parts called??? I've called the manufacture - American Forge & Foundry but they will not sell the parts and claim they don't even sell bench grinders any more even though they are still being shown on their website. I need to know what you call these things so I can find them elsewhere.
SousaKerry 503 #2 Posted September 11, 2014 I would be willing to bet that they do not actually manufacture the grinders they are selling but are rebranding someone else's. I would call one of their distributors, the other option would be to go to an industrial supply store(Fastenal, Grainger, ect.) near you and bring the part with you. They should be able to match it up with another brand as the shaft sizes are all common.

Save Old Iron 1,571 #9 Posted September 12, 2014 Usually called wheel collars. The diameter of the motor shaft should be common with other 6" grinders. If so, check the Dewalt website for replacements. They should be interchangeable.
