Digger 66 3,488 #7 Posted September 6, 2014 W O W ! That thing rips . I have long wondered why the big 3 refuse to put a small ( inline 6 ? ) turbo diesel in their 1/2 ton pickups .

Racinbob 11,918 #11 Posted September 6, 2014 GM's nightmare Olds diesel that came out in, I believe, 1978 really gave the diesel a bad rap. I think it's finally being put to rest and definitely should be. From what I'm reading the big three have some neat things in the works as far as diesels go. wh500special 2,262 #17 Posted September 6, 2014 There are more diesels out there than you'd realize. Many in unexpected places. Mostly from vw, Audi, BMW, and Mercedes since they're already standard fare in their fatherland. Chevy has one in the cruze. I'd imagine that fiat Chrysler will be putting them in us bound cars too. Mazda is on the horizon as well in their 6 sedan and cx5. Diesels are part of the wave of the future. The new v6 diesel in the ram 1500 and grand Cherokee is a nice start. As is the one destined for the soon to be released Chevy Colorado. I am 100% in love with the 140hp oil burner in my vw car. Great everyday performance (not Chevelle level for sure) and 45 mpg. On the rare instance that I need fuel and encounter another diesel auto owner we usually agree that it's a mystery why everybody doesn't have one. If I was more motivated and could clear the house of all my engines, I'd start over with all diesel. Car, truck, boat, lawnmower, everything. Have more fun, get a diesel. Martin 2,133 #18 Posted September 7, 2014 Hey Rudolph, I've been keeping my eye on the cruze diesels for a little while now, we have the 1.4 T gas right now but I'm thinking diesel next time. The gas is good at 40mpg, if I try hard 42, and it's a zippy little thing, but I really would like to see how the diesel drives........ Ferdinand Shishky. Jasen 10 #19 Posted September 7, 2014 I'll keep my gas engines. After working on diesels every day, knowing what a pain some of them are to work on, and knowing what the repairs cost. I'll stick with gas. oh by the way, I'm a Chevy fan! 2007 Silverado 1500 4.8L gas 1970 C-10 327 gas 1972 Nova 396 gas
Geno 1,929 #20 Posted September 7, 2014 You work on those things too huh Jasen? I tell people every day, yeah, pay more for the engine, then more for the fuel, then you better hold on when you get the repair bill!
