NEED A SPECIAL PLUG FOR 520h

Recommended Posts

km3h

I just picked up another Horse. This time it is a 520H. A previous owner let his Grandson go through it with a pair of wire cutters. Made a mess out of it. There is a plug that goes to the idiot lights on the top of the dash that will very hard to remove the wires from and I would rather just get another one.

This one shows the female plug which is attached to the light block               post-2564-0-72687200-1408058074_thumb.jp

This is the male plug I need. It hold ten wires. As you can see the

wires were cut very close to the plug. This is the one I need.                          post-2564-0-44988300-1408058100_thumb.jp

If I can find a complete wiring harness for it I would be very happy. Otherwise I will have to build one without really having an old one to use as a guide as there are a lot of other wires that have been cut.

I checked with Toro and they say that that plug and inserts are no longer available from them. If you know of someplace I can purchase these items please let me know. This is a 1997 Wheel Horse 52H.

Take a look at these, just pull the old ones out and crimp these on your existing wires, insert into the plug and you're good to go.

And never give a kid a pair of wire cutters, I know from experience.

If you have enough wire what M_Bailey said will be the best solution.  Even if you find an aftermarket molex that size and configuration all of the wires will most likely be white which could cause a troubleshooting issue in the future. Not to mention if someone sees it and knows there's a lot of connections underneath which could mean even more problems down the road.

Not sure that is what I need but it looks like it might be. Thanks for that. I need to get the old wires out without making a mess of the plug. They make special tools for that and I will have to get on. That company sell a lot of the supplies we need for our tractors.

Looks like the terminal release is on the right side of the pics you posted.  If they're not too deep a pic tool should do it.  :)

Yep, what Geno said, even a jewelers screwdriver inserted i the slot will release the connector from the plug.

Gino, I would never use all one color wire to fix this. I will take a trip to the electronics store tomorrow and see what they have. It will take a small moles pin to work in this plug.

If I can't find the right tool, then I will make one using spring steel and a grinder. Gino you have a 520 don't you? if you do you will know the plug I am taling about.

Good news. I was able to get exactly what I needed and Baynsville Electronics right here in good old Baltimore. Uses .156 Molex pins and housings. $7.49.

Well I got lucky tonight. I put an add in the forum for a wiring harness. Two very kind gentleman directed me to an EBay add. I made the guy a reasonable offer and he accepted it. Not only got the harness, but the dash and all the gages with wire intact.

Having the correct tools for that type of job makes all the difference in the world... Especially when it comes to electrical. We used several different types of extraction and insertion tools when working on electrical components of the F-111. If you did not have the tools, when you headed out to the flightline, it made all the difference in the world between a 30 minute fix vs. a 3hr. hassle.

Whenever I have something to do and a need for special tool arises, I never hesitate to get it. Saves a lot of frustration and banged up skin. Like you said it saves a lot of time too.

Now that we are finding more uses for the 1990 520H with a KwikWay loader I am experiencing some power loss in the hydro after about a half hour to 45 minutes??????
      Ideas?

Selling my trusty WH520H.  ~880 hours (currently used for moving snow when needed so hours may rise) very solid machine, strong and hardworking.  20HP Onan, hydro transmission and hydraulic lift.  Has Matt's foot-pedal conversion for forward/reverse.  Included in the sale is a tall-chute snow blower and 60" mowing deck.  The blower is in excellent condition and is on the tractor currently.  The mowing deck has been a workhorse over the years.  No holes but could use some TLC, probably needs new spindles at some point and could use a couple spots touched up with welder also does NOT have any pulley covers/protectors (see photo).  Tractor has been an incredible tool, very solid and dependable and I'm certainly going to miss her when she's gone.

Recent maintenance: replaced the plugs this summer, fluids as needed (hydro has about 100 hours on fluid/filter; oil was done in the spring and has about 25 hours on it).  Battery is about 3 years old as are the tires, Terra Trac tires on the rear and turfs on the front.  The seat (with arm rests) isn't in great shape.  I've got a cover for the seat, never used.  It's never really bothered me but new seat cover is included in sale as are 4 hub caps, chains for the rear tires, and some misc spare parts (see photos).

I've owed this machine about 8 year and put ~350 hours on her.  She's not a show piece but could be restored.  Sheet metal is generally in shape, no rust however the hood does have a couple dings in it.

I'm only selling because I'm trying to help my son get a small lawn care business started and looking to move to a zero-turn.  The 60" deck is too large for our trailer, the mowing deck lacks pulley safety shields, and we'd like something that mows faster.  My only complaint with this machine is the top-speed (which isn't great when comparing to today's machines) otherwise she's a beast.  They don't make them like this anymore.
