Engine Detailing

Recommended Posts

Morning,

So i've decided that I want the engine to be the showcase of my 66' 656. I want that little 6 horse Tecumseh to be the focal point. I want to strip is down to bare metal and give it a mildly rough surface to highlight the metal, sort of the machined swirl look. Not quite polished but plenty of gleam. I'm going to paint the starter and heat shields black to emphasize this effect. Clean and paint the engine bolts as well. There is a good amount of aluminium on the cylinder head and it should clean up real nice too. I figure i'll use the trusty Dremel tool for most of the metal clean up. I'm looking for sugestions for a coating to seal that look into the metal that will still withstand the heat of a running engine. I've always gone straight for the engine compartment as the first area in a project and don't want this to be any different.

Thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,

Randy
