diamondred 63 #1 Posted July 13, 2014 (edited) I recently purchased a bottom plow. I have no idea who made this plow. It will fit into the slot hitch and lift fine. However, the question is, should there be some play on the sides of the tab of the plow to allow side to side movement so that it will swing a small amount side to side? I was at a plowing get-together and the seasoned plow-masters told me to get some metal to fill in the sides so the plow DIDN'T have as much slop. Too much slop will let the plow follow the previous furrow. After I made some 1/4" spacers (1 for each side) it worked much better. as of right now... there is no play. What is the width of a wheel horse "tab" ( for lack of better words) that goes into the slot hitch. 1 1/2 inches? My plow "tongue" is 1 1/2" wide, and the slot on the tractor is 2" wide. 0907 1 #8 Posted July 30, 2014 I have one too! My grandfather used it begins a Sears suburban. Had some GM guys fab a sleeve hitch with a slot option on it. Good luck finding a new share for that Brinley 8 if you ever wear it out. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
specialwheelhorse 174 #9 Posted July 30, 2014 Have a 8 briny as well and will say a good blacksmith can recondition these shares Dad used to do it and would sometimes weld a layer of stelite on the edge.
