Ken B 3,166 #26 Posted July 1, 2014 If I had 100 grand to throw into the wind I'd find the nicest AC Cobra kit car that looks the most like the real deal with a 427 4 speed that I could find, and drive it EVERY day. I might even have some left over to do a little more shoppin...

specialwheelhorse 174 #30 Posted July 2, 2014 (edited) A man owning a large repair outfit in Pittsburg told me the only car he would own Would be a Subaru. And I would go with that. The last thing I would want would Be a 100 thousand dollar money pit. Any time night or day 24 7 under any conditions. That's a Subaru!!!! She wouldn't trade hers for anything.
squonk 42,780 #32 Posted July 2, 2014 My wife had an Outback that she loved so when it was time to replace it we went Subaru shopping. She bought a Volvo!
Racinbob 11,774 #33 Posted July 2, 2014 Well, I'd keep my little Ranger but I would start the hunt for a 1970 Mustang Boss. A nice driver, not a trailer queen. I just couldn't have a cool muscle car and not drive it.
DoctorHfuhruhurr 137 #34 Posted July 3, 2014 So I guess my question is, why would anyone spend $100K on a car, when in the end it only takes you from point A to point B? So does walking and bike riding, but in the end, it's only money.

I already have one of those and will probably keep it since it was a gift. I bought and extra set of wheels and snow tires from tirerack.com and it goes great in the snow. It proved itself well in the two worst storms last winter. I had a car and an 18 wheeler wipe out only 20 yards in front of me during one storm. Both crashes were within 15 minutes of each other. The car was totalled and had the front wheel ripped off. The 18 wheeler managed to stay upright after slamming into the guard rail. Needless to say I'm very partial to all wheel drive.

19richie66 17,583 #37 Posted July 4, 2014 (edited) If i were heavily into tractors and lived in the snow belt, definately a four door, 3/4-1 ton four wheel drive pickup. I thought about it and had to edit my response. As far as a car, Ford GT, not the mustang. Edited July 4, 2014 by 19richie66
Brrly1 1,146 #38 Posted July 4, 2014 I would have to say a New Ford F350 crew cab or maybe even a F450 crew cab with a 24' enclosed fifth wheel trailer. Have the sleeping up front with fold up racks so I could roll more tractors or (toys) in. I would undoubtly have the 6.7 Powerstroke diesel, Great truck, Great motor. That would do for starters
Aldon 4,828 #39 Posted July 4, 2014 I would consider the new Honda NSX due to be released in a year or so....then I would by a couple 4x4 trucks...not much separates then these days. But I like the ride of the Chevy and the Dodge Power Wagon keeps teasing me to come take a test drive.
IthacaJeff 151 #40 Posted July 7, 2014 Wow, cannot imagine spending that much, especially when we are trying to scrape up money to build a garage! But. . .a basic F350 diesel would be nice. Spend the leftover money on gas. Jeff
Coadster32 793 #41 Posted July 8, 2014 New Chevy Camaro Z28 would do me just fine. If given $100k...I'd pay down the house.

That would do for starters I'm waiting for the 2015 Ford's to come out to see how the military grade aluminum body panels and bed works out for them but I think that's only for the F150. It will be nice having a body that doesn't rust. A truck is a separate purchase from a car though.

I can tell you from experience, that the Subaru Outback is no Wheel Horse hauler. I had an LL Bean edition with the 3.0 liter (needed something more "family friendly"). I used to pull my small 5x8 trailer and never more than two small tractors - tranny started slipping like a centrifugal clutch shortly thereafter. And it wasn't a cheap car. Rated towing capacity was well over what I ever used it for. They are reliable cars, but really nothing more than an econobox thats jacked up 6 inches or so, to lead you to believe its rugged and ready for wilderness terrain. Not really. Great for car seats and groceries.
SousaKerry 502 #44 Posted July 10, 2014 Somehow I could never see spending as much money for a car as what I could buy a house for....But I drive a 95 Ford Ranger with 150,000 and live in a doublewide. So dreaming big for me is buying a car made in this same decade and less then 100,000 mi.
