DoctorHfuhruhurr 137 #1 Posted June 27, 2014 I've been looking to buy a new car but nothing really stands out to me. So many cars look the same these days. I end up having to look at the manufacturer symbol to distinguish one from the next on the road. I'm leaning towards either a Corvette Z06 convertible or Mercedes E63 AMG S 4matic. I like the Mercedes a bit more because it is reserved in appearance but it can do 0-60 in 3.5 seconds where as the Corvette is a bit loud in appearance and probably a police magnet. The Mercedes has all wheel drive and can be driven all year and the Corvette is a rear wheel drive non winter vehicle. What car would you buy with a 100k budget? (it doesn't have to be the two mentioned) http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehicles/model/class-E/model-E63P http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette-z06-supercar.html
AMC RULES 37,153 #2 Posted June 27, 2014 Most probably another '73 Javelin AMX.
KC9KAS 4,744 #3 Posted June 27, 2014 Probably a Lincoln....A fellow driving a Cadillac is still trying to make it in the world. A fellow driving a Lincoln "has made it"!
nylyon-(Admin) 7,550 #4 Posted June 28, 2014 Honestly, I think that the Corvette and Mercedes are junk. The 911 is usually far better built and classic 911 styling. The Turbo is a little out of the price range but a nice more base model would fit the bill nicely.
Ken B 3,166 #5 Posted June 28, 2014 Probably a Lincoln....A fellow driving a Cadillac is still trying to make it in the world. A fellow driving a Lincoln "has made it"! Yeah I don't know about that..... I wonder why Elvis AKA the KING drove Cadillac's??? If he were still alive I picture him pimpin in this, not a Lincoln! The new Caddy's ain't no joke.
DoctorHfuhruhurr 137 #6 Posted June 28, 2014 Funny that the 911 was brought up because the Consumer Reports gives a page each to the 911 and the Corvette (page 4 and 5) in their New Car Ratings & Reviews issue (204 pages - download link below). The 911 didn't make their recommended list though due to below average reliability. It didn't speak to the reliability on the Corvette since it's a new design. I'm leaning towards the Sports Luxury Mercedes since it can be used as a daily driver all year with the all wheel drive and the whole family can pile in when desired. Consumer Reports did recommend the E series Mercedes. I looked at the BMW M5 but unfortunately it was rear wheel drive and that won't work well in snow. http://www.mediafire.com/view/du6sac67fst0beb/NewCarRatingsandReviews2015.pdf That Cadi is pretty sharp. I'll have to check that out.
neil 2,410 #7 Posted June 28, 2014 I would buy the range rover sport, the best 4 x4 by far. Top gears best 4 x4

Wheelhorsestory 210 #9 Posted June 28, 2014 I would buy a loaded Ford Expedition King Ranch Edition. Luxury and extreme comfort, super smooth ride on an air suspension. Plus you can tow a big trailer loaded with Wheel Horses.
smoreau 658 #10 Posted June 28, 2014 (edited) #1. You can afford a luxury vehicle, you need to get what you like! You have to live with it and enjoy it. There are pros and cons on all vehicles and there are NO perfect cars out there. I am a auto tech and was asked what is the best car to buy? My answer was " one you do not have to work on" So go with what you like! You got a nice budget, so that means you can afford the proper maintenance on what ever you decide to buy witch is key to making a good vehicle last a long time! stevasaurus 23,106 #16 Posted June 28, 2014 I am liking the looks of the new Dodge Challenger...you could buy 2 or 3 of them. They don't look like all the other cars on the road. http://www.dodge.com/en/challenger/?sid=1037056&KWNM=dodge+challenger&KWID=2025419800&TR=1&channel=paidsearch
Sparky-(Admin) 22,259 #17 Posted June 28, 2014 After thinking about what one car I would buy I came to the conclusion that one car wont do it all. So I think I would roll down to the Chevy dealer, find a hungry salesman and buy a 2014 Vette for around $59,000 and a 2014 Silverado Double cab 4x4 Z-71 for $39,000. Now you have the cool performance 2 seater and a great all season vehicle that would carry 4-5 people and be able to yank a trailer. Just my opinion.... DoctorHfuhruhurr 137 #20 Posted June 30, 2014 There was a nice looking 2009 Ferrari (430 I think) at the Mercedes dealership this past weekend with 10k miles that was traded in for a CL65 AMG 6 liter V12 biturbo. http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/vehicles/model/class-CL/model-CL65 If I bought a car like that I'd drive it a lot more than 10k in 5 years. What a waste.
rmaynard 15,946 #21 Posted June 30, 2014 So I guess my question is, why would anyone spend $100K on a car, when in the end it only takes you from point A to point B?
