Dkphillips 22 #1 Posted June 24, 2014 (edited) As I may have a chance to purchase this Raider 10 I am curious of other opinions as to the value of the tractor. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. The owner said his brother-in-law used it and now it will not run!! He is not sure why. Edited June 24, 2014 by Dkphillips
Desko 624 #2 Posted June 24, 2014 First check if its getting spark pull the plug and ground it to metal if its not spark check if the points a clean and adjusted right .018 .020 thousands if its has spark there but no power to the coil check the condensed if all is good there but still no spark hook power up to the coil then crank it over to see if it has spark and if it does there's a wiring problem somewhere. Is it getting fuel shoot some gas straight into the carb if it fires off it its a fuel problem clean the carb and change the fuel lines and check the fuel tank valve and see if its open and clean also check the amount of fuel the fuel pump is putting out. KATO 115 #3 Posted June 25, 2014 (edited) If that motor is a Tecumseh HH100 (looks like it is ).It will most likely be a SOLID STATE IGNITION engine (sticker should be on other side, like my avatar) ,there is no power going to the "coil" as it is a magneto type ignition system. If it has no spark it MAY need a new module They are EXPENSIVE and you wont likely find a new one, only used. That alone would make me think hard about buying it .Try and find out why it wont run, or if its cheap enough and you really like it ,buy it and fix it...my Raider with HH100 is an excellent Tractor Edited June 25, 2014 by KATO
Theroundhousernr 590 #4 Posted June 25, 2014 I was not 100% if it was a techy or not. It sure looks like mine but the shielding on the motor is a little different. But it does not look like a Kohler. So ... PLUS it looks like the fuel line and cables are not even hooked up...
Desko 624 #5 Posted June 25, 2014 Sorry I assumed it was a Kohler as I don't have any experience with the c's or the raiders but now that I look at it it has the smaller air cleaner cover and the head tin it resembles a tecky so take their information as mine would be a Kohler info. Trouty56 567 #6 Posted June 25, 2014 A non running Tecumseh is a bit different than a non running Kohler with points....... If you are in need of a tractor to jump on and run....keep looking....
wrightorchid 261 #7 Posted June 25, 2014 or, if you have a small brigs or Kohler, you could do a transplant...
MacGarage 13 #8 Posted June 25, 2014 (edited) ...my Raider with HH100 is an excellent Tractor My Raider 10 has been the an excellent mule tractor. It easily handles anything from a 900 pound roller to plowing snow. Interesting to know about the ignition module though. I have about a bit over $300 total invested in the tractor (including purchase two years ago) if that helps on the value. Dkphillips 22 #9 Posted June 26, 2014 Thanks everyone for your responses. The engine is a Techumseh HH10. The tractor will be in an auction soon and that is why I was interested in what the Forum people had to say. If it goes cheap I may buy it and try to get it running. If it is beyond repair then it may make a good "part out" tractor!!
chip61 666 #10 Posted June 26, 2014 If it is an ignition problem, Overnight Solutions can probably get you what you need to get running again (new system that by-passes the Techy ignition system).
BAM1 40 #11 Posted November 28, 2020 I have the opportunity to purchase a Raider 10, Non running, has deck and plow. missing some minor parts, and Battery probably needs a head gasket. What would be a fair offer if owner is asking $250.00?
Rfp55 33 #12 Posted November 30, 2020 150 if deck good, 100 if best quality is 4 tires hold air.
McGrew 461 #13 Posted December 1, 2020 This Raider 10 (now 14) is priceless... Dad bought it new in Sept. 1971, and it was his favorite tool. He loved working in the garden! Danny
