Kennedy 138 #1 Posted June 8, 2014 This tractor has been for sale for a while on the craigs. The seller keeps calling it a Briggs but from what little I know of these tractors it looks like an Onan to me. I also know the 416 originally came with an Onan. Can anyone tell from this picture? Thanks Mark

Fordiesel69 271 #4 Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) That could be a work horse gt-1642 or gt-1600 repaint. I can tell from the transaxle sticker, and twin stickers. Edited June 9, 2014 by Fordiesel69

Kennedy 138 #6 Posted June 9, 2014 That could be a work horse gt-1642 or gt-1600 repaint. I can tell from the transaxle sticker, and twin stickers. I would have never known that thanks for the heads up. i was thinking the same thing. wonder if its got a workhorse seat pan or 3,4,5 series? What is the difference in the seat pans of the workhorse and the 3,4,5 series?
Desko 624 #7 Posted June 9, 2014 As I look at the pic it has a black frame, choke on the dash and the transaxle decal on the seat pan and the biggest giveaway is it has white wheels im 100% positive its a work horse repaint with a 416 hood.
Martin 2,133 #8 Posted June 9, 2014 I would have never known that thanks for the heads up. What is the difference in the seat pans of the workhorse and the 3,4,5 series? 3,4,5 series has an extra body line below the rear full width seat pan decal. the workhorse tractor pans don't have this body line. the decals on the 3,4,5 series are narrower because of this lip, the workhorse decals go almost to the bottom of the seat pan edge. Fordiesel69 271 #10 Posted June 9, 2014 I would place money it was a work horse. It does look nice though with the black frame, and white wheels. To me a fresh painted, mint condition, black-titanium-white color combo on the work horses make it look like a professional series wheel horse. That is how the local dealer sold my dad his first. It a nice change to the same old red.
Kennedy 138 #11 Posted June 9, 2014 Thanks everyone for the clarification. This is exactly why I come here. Here is the only rear shot in the ad.
Martin 2,133 #12 Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) That dash, steering wheel look like workhorse to me..... like was mentioned before, I think somebody took a workhorse and painted it red. The terrible things people do, still it could be saved and repainted the right way..... Desko 624 #13 Posted June 9, 2014 Could someone post a picture of a 416 dash and a work hose dash and we could compare as it looks like this dash has the warning lights.
Martin 2,133 #14 Posted June 9, 2014 The dash on my workhorse pic is visible above. It's hard to see as I can't zoom that last pic enough, but I'm fairly sure that dash has the outline decals on the upper and lower, look at where the column hits the dash. I will look closer at it when I get home. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Martin 2,133 #15 Posted June 9, 2014 i don't think that dash has warning lights. i zoomed in as close as i could and I'm 99% sure thats workhorse dash. the upper has some sort of screws or something on the outsides of the panel but you can clearly see the outline decals with the thin line that follows around the column and outside of the decal just like the workhorse pic i posted. the lower lights/ ignition decal also has the outline.....the steering wheel is also early 80s i don't think they used that style on the 3,4,5 series, maybe somebody can confirm or deny? this tractor looks more and more like a previous owner changed the light pewter (non metallic) to red ( i think this is either an 83 or 84- my 82 (metallic pewter) doesn't have the hood catches) Hey TT are you around at the moment?
