posifour11 723 #1 Posted May 28, 2014 Squirrel season just started last weekend here in Missouri. I'm out here camped out getting ready for my first day of the season, on my phone. I know squirrel hunting has kinda fallen by the wayside, but figured there has to be some old school types out there somewhere. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Kennedy 138 #6 Posted May 28, 2014 We dont have a spring/summer season here. Ours almost always starts on September 1st and runs to the end of January. I usually hunt them until October when deer bow season starts. I wouldnt say they taste like chicken, more rodenty/gamey taste but not in a bad way. redidbull 54 #9 Posted May 29, 2014 (edited) I don't hunt anymore but did in the 70's and 80's. Not much hunting grounds around here anymore. We used to go out with 22s during small game season. Used to cook the squirrels in some onions in a frying pan. Jim Edited May 29, 2014 by redidbull
Racinbob 11,991 #10 Posted May 29, 2014 'Back in the day' squirrels were my favorite game. But that was in Indiana where the squirrels were squirrels. The squirrels down here aren't much bigger than chipmunks. This was my firearm of choice. I managed to bag a lot of the critters but.............I missed a LOT too. I would like to blame the revolver but that would be lying.
ronwh 190 #11 Posted May 30, 2014 Posifour11 How did your squirrel go? I enjoy squirrel hunting but have not found time for several years, I need to change that. I always look for a place that has had cattle in it around the time they start cutting hickory nuts. See you at Larry and Judy's in September Ron Whanger

I forgot my bug dope and couldn't sit still. I'll be trying again a couple times a week. There's a conservation area between work and home. See ya in September.
