wont stay running

i have model 1054. iget the tractor running adjust the carburator .get it running smoth and once i put in gear an take off it like chokes itself out. so i put my hand over the mouth of the carb it starts right back up idles and then it does the same thing again.i dont no.could it be the fuel pump.i checked the in line filter an its clesn same with the gas tank .its getting plenty of gas no blckage.

Yes I am pretty sure I do. What's the chances it's the fuel pump

How do I check the governer any how.

take the fuel line off the carb and crank the motor over to see if the fuel pump is working

+1 on that but hand turn it over because using the starter will a be dangerous because of the electrics and b will put fuel everywhere.

i won't worry about that, it doesn't produce a lot of pressure

if you are worried about a  gas squirting out put a piece of rubber hose on the line and run it in a can
