Looks like it does a good job. So where are the clippings directed? Or are they not directed and just fly out everywhere?

Mike.....

you would figure a clippings deflector could be fabbed up?  dragging my reels behinds shoots up a rooster tail of clippings.

Pretty much, you ride around in a shower of clippings raining down all over the front of the tractor.   :scared-eek:

Actually, it's really a lot of fun...unfortunately, I just don't have the yard for it here, too many embankments.

Really cool implement though.   :handgestures-thumbsup:

For a perfect cut, reels need a lot of maintenance. Sharpening them is an art and you have to keep them constantly adjusted. At least the pro models you do. Not sure of the Horse ones. Brings me back to my days on the golf course pulling the six gang behind the Jake!

I'm really impressed!! Work boots this time instead of the bare Peety Toes in your last reel vid.!  :)  :helmet:

Also, did some mowing with the gear drive deck today too.   :)

Cuts great, although a tad bit noisy...    :hide:

actually, caught my new neighbor giving me the stink eye while using it.

Sounds like the cross shaft is moving back and forth causing the gears to bang together. I had the same problem with my 704 deck and went thru 3 other decks to get a decent one. The bearings in the stands start to go and spin on the shaft and ruin it. I had buckrancher make me a new shaft. I have the face and spindle gears if you ever tear it down and need them.

So, later...after the peace returned to the neighborhood...   :greetings-wavingyellow:

I noticed virtually everyone on the block out to see what was making all the noise over here this time.   :handgestures-salute:

Start em all up at the same time and watch their expressions! I did that once but only had 5 of them.

Cool videos craig...that 401 is sweet! One of the nicest originals I've ever seen! one interesting thing I noticed was there is no line coming back from the gas cap or is it just the way the video shows it?

Any 401 I've ever seen had it. Maybe yours is a earlier model, or someone changed a 400 hood sometime for it. post-4240-0-07966900-1399250558_thumb.jp
